I had a nightmare of an experience yesterday. My husband has just finished a very aggressive chemotherapy and we along with my close friends and family decided to celebrate this . We went to the restaurant since we wanted to enjoy Indian food and saw the restaurant to be highly rated. We were a group of 6 adults. When we entered the restaurant, it was silent and there wasnt any other customer. We started checking the menu and I requested for some drinking water. The staff served sparkling water. We requested for plain still water and he said that they dont have it. We were surprised and my friend said that we can drink the water they themselves generally have. The owner walked in and rudely said that they dont serve tap water. We still couldnt understand the issue since we were really thirsty and just wanted some still water to drink. We again asked for it and finally they served a bottled still water. However, even before we could drink it, the owner came around and inquired about the cap of the bottled sparkling water they have previously served. We said that his staff had actually just served us with an open bottle. He walked away rudely .
We had already decided on the starters till then and went on to order. In the interim , our entire group was deciding on the main course as well. My husband does have some dietary restrictions still and hence we were trying to see what could be best for him and can be equally enjoyable for all of us. The owner decided to take the order and when we placed order for the starters, he asked for the main course order to be placed simultaneously. We requested him to take the order for the starters first while we decide the main course. The owner in an extremely rude manner stated that he wont take any order unless we place order for main course as well. At that point in time, we all decided to leave the restaurant considering the rude behaviour of the staffs. But we started discussing among ourselves that we should also write the review on google on how the restaurant treat its customer. The owner barged out and stated 'GET LOST'. Yes, that's what he said. We were shocked and walked out .
We came outside and decided to take the photo of the restaurant and that's when the worst part happened. One of the staff, a bald man , jumped and attacked my female friend who was trying to take the photo of the restaurant name. All the rest of our group , including my husband , had to jump in to rescue her. The staff physically assaulted another friend of mine as well and held his hand tightly. The female friend of mine by that time has started to shake in fear . My husband was highly stressed and recovering form cancer, it is highly deterrent for him. We reported the incident to police .
The restaurant owner and staffs are not only rude by equally capable of physically injuring any customer who decides to give a review according to their true experience. Highly advice everyone to give this...
Read moreOverall the food is just OK and there are number of options to choose from. Other than that there is nothing to praise. The place very small with limited seating.
Staff service and attitude is where it all goes downhill and hence the poor rating. 8 of us including 3 kids on 5th July. Whilst ordering mains, we were pointed (can’t find on website or at time of booking) that each adult should order a minimum of one main course. This is to cover the cost of loosing bookings for smaller groups as three tables were joined to accommodate us. Is it our fault that they had limited space? What if we are small eaters? This rule doesn’t apply to any high street restaurants or even in Central London & we do dine a lot . Nonetheless we committed to ordering 1 main course per each adult.
We asked for tap water as we were thirsty to begin with even though we ordered fizzy drinks & mocktails, we were told they don’t have tap water and we were forced to buy a bottle of water. Another ruling that’s unheard of anywhere in London. It seems they are too focused on squeezing every penny than improving their horrid customer service. We asked for some poppadums as we could see it on the other tables but it wasn’t on the menu. So we asked for the costing incase it was complimentary but we were told it was 70p each so we got 3. On the bill we were charged around £3-4 and when we questioned, we were told it’s cause of the chutney . Another hidden surprise for us!
Such a shame, as we saw some good reviews and went along. It’s a cozy place but their service & pricing was a shocker & let us down. The blunt & rude behavior is unacceptable & don’t wish to ever go their again.
UPDATE: To reply to the rudest owner who thinks his food is michelin star! I think you need training on how to treat customers and your rudeness is being watched by everyone! I think you should stop judging people as you don’t know us! We are well travelled and have eaten in the best of restaurants . You may have become a owner by luck as you clearly haven’t done any hospitality course on how to treat customers. May be this attitude works back home for you !
Your service sucks and so does your attitude! I think you can’t take criticism hence your response! You need to be replaced!
BTW my cousin brother OWNS chaiiwala and we know what it takes to be good and respected in the food industry!!! I guess you don’t own a chain so your head is stuck where it...

Last night we 4 friends with parents went to this restaurant with a lot of crave to have delicious Indian food what we do miss here in UK.
we took seat and discussing our list of menus to order. Meanwhile we felt thirsty and asked for some drinking water. One served us sparkling water that we did not ask for. so requested for normal still water he said they dont have anything else except sparkling. My husband even told even if you don't have still water please give us the water you have normal tap water.
Then one of them came and gave us a bottle of still water that they already had but did not give us before and all of the sudden they started behaving so rude.
Now we decided we will first order starters then if we can have more then order main course as our starters list was quiet long. Now they started showing attitude and told they won't take only starter orders we have to end up with main course orders also and that's person's behavior was arrogant I said in that case dont take any orders and we will leave and he replied then get lost, omg how dare he! We can never imagine a person can behave this way. I never heard of any restaurant that don't serve only starters and and force customers to order more else they won't serve and if so, they should mention this rules outside the restaurant.
we came outside and thought of giving Google review. The moment I hold my phone to take one photo one the restaurant from outside, all of a sudden one male crew jumped on me and physically abused me not to take any picture. I got scared and started badly shaking in fear. Our parents got in panic. My husband and friends started protesting him by words again he attacked on them and pushed them badly (photos attached). Then we thought enough is enough it's time to report police. In any circumstances, no one can physically abuse you even it's a women. They don't know basic how to behave with no courtesy and manners.
We reported to police and this is under investigation. they will check footage all the CCTV around.
Worst ever exp we...
