Overall the experience for my 14yr old daughter’s birthday was pleasant, however there were unfortunately a few sticking points.
Firstly the confusion over the booking wasn’t the greatest start, there was no welcome and it felt rushed and chaotic.
The setting is lovely and picturesque and provided the perfect backdrop for the theme I was aiming for.
The food sadly doesn’t live up to the same expectations. The sandwiches were extremely basic for £20pp, cheese (spread style), jam and ham (falling apart with no butter), and the amount that were provided weren’t sufficient for the number of people.
The squash again lacked in quantity and the girls ran out, when they asked for more they were told two bottles were what was included and were given tap water instead.
Despite it being an afternoon tea offering, the scones had jam only, no cream, and the mini rolls and cupcakes were supermarket style, again not what would be expected for the £20pp price range.
To my knowledge there were no themed cookies or crisps offered.
If I’m completely frank - having hosted and catered myself for many children’s parties over the years (I have 4 daughters), I suspect that the food in its entirety would’ve cost no more than about £20-£30.
Lastly the manner of greeting from the owner could be better, although it must be said that the servers were very pleasant.
I appreciate it was busy, but as mentioned it was rushed and chaotic at the beginning, and we didn’t get as much as a goodbye or thank you for your business at the end, rather the door was shut on us quite hurriedly as the girls awaited being picked up. Ultimately customers build a business, and the customer service was somewhat lacking.
I will reiterate that I was happy with the setting and the girls enjoyed the overall experience, however the cost was disproportionate to both the quality and quantity of food as well as the customer service.
I hope this review is helpful and future customers might have a...
Read moreThe Shop - From the entrance to the main shop, to the toilets, everything is super clean and welcoming. You can see that the owner Vera has put a lot of thought and love into making the shop appealing and a lovely environment for people to sit and enjoy. It’s so beautiful that it’s hard not to want to take photos with your loved ones whilst in the shop making it even more enjoyable.
There is an extra floor down below which is really lovely and is available for hire which I am considering for future events as it’s a great space.
The food - we ordered from the many menus available and the this also did not disappoint. Each dish has been put together with care and presented beautifully and I discovered after talking with the owner who has 20 years experience in being a chef that they have received their 5 star hygiene rating which reinforced their passion for the shop. We also ordered hot drinks which tasted lovely (I am a fussy coffee person and enjoyed it). Cute little touches were added throughout like little gingerbread with drinks and gold leaf on the dishes. So pretty.
Menu - The menus were clear and easy to ready with the right amount of options available.
Price range - The pricing is middle range and what you would expect for an independent shop. For 4 meals, with drinks and some sweet for my daughter I paid around £50. I have supplied photos so you can see portions which were decent.
The service - service was served in great time and with a friendly and accommodating manner.
Atmosphere- very calm and I could have sat there for hours. I felt very relaxed. It’s definitely a happy place.
Overall - I absolutely love the place and will be back again with my girlfriends. It’s the perfect place for a girly catch up or a lunch with...
Read moreI recently hosted my daughter's 6th birthday party at Beauty and the Feast, and I cannot recommend the venue highly enough! We celebrated upstairs in the café, taking advantage of their fantastic Black Friday deal, which included face masks, nail painting, afternoon tea, and a special appearance from a princess. I even added some cute robes as extras for the little ones!
Vera and her team went above and beyond to ensure that we were all catered for. We had two guests who are autistic and struggle with transitions and sensory processing, and Vera was incredibly accommodating. She offered a quiet space for one of our guests and made sure she felt included by giving her the option to have her nails painted and allowing the princess to visit her in a quieter area until she felt comfortable. As a mother of a child with SEND, it is so refreshing to find venues that take inclusion seriously, ensuring all children can participate in the festivities.
Thanks to Vera's thoughtful accommodations, the parents who stayed were able to relax and enjoy a warm cup of coffee (if you know, you know!). The booking process was seamless, with Vera providing frequent email check-ins to ensure all our preferences and dietary needs were met. The parking was also well signposted, which was very practical.
This was the most stress-free party I have ever hosted or attended! The venue is absolutely beautiful, and I would recommend it for both children and adults. The food and coffee were amazing, and we will definitely be back soon!
Most importantly, my daughter, her guests, and I had the most magical morning filled with laughter, relaxation, and memories we'll cherish forever. Thank you, Beauty and the Feast, for making my daughter’s...
