My wife has been poorly recently, so I decided to cheer her up with some tasty Chinese food for lunch. The only delivery place we could find that was open at lunchtime in our area was Taya.
Oh dear. I suppose I can't dispute that it was food, but tasty or Chinese it was not. It was great to see they had a Lunchtime special, which looked like it offered a main dish and a rice or noodle dish for a tenner (ordered normally, these would come to around £15). We added some crab and sweetcorn soup to the order as well.
Ordering and paying on the website was easy enough, and the delivery came when they said - although 45 minutes for a relatively small order on a Tuesday lunchtime seems a bit much. However, we found that the "Special" bit of the Lunchtime Special was to reduce it to half- portions: only 5 chicken balls, a tiny pot of dayglo orange "sweet and sour sauce", and half a portion of noodles. The takeout container was actually divided in two, to ensure they didn't actually give us enough food by accident. So we paid £10 for about £7.50 of food. This was also only luke warm, so a lot of the 45 minutes was spent with this dish sitting around, it would appear.
The soup was at least piping hot, but I doubt it had been closer to an actual crab than the restaurant building has to Glasgow. Instead, we were "treated" to chopped-up supermarket fish sticks.
Eating the chicken balls, I found that one of mine was not chicken at all, but some kind of vegetable - possibly swede? As a former Hong Kong resident, I know a lot about authentic Chinese cuisine, and this was as far from that as London is from China.
Rest assured, I shall never be ordering food from these cowboys again, and I really hope this review persuades you to...
Read moreI ordered via JustEat and it took 1h45minutes to be delivered. I rang the restaurant twice to be told the order was “just leaving now” both times.
When the food arrived it was cold and had items missing. I rang the restaurant again and told them about my missing items and queried another’s size/quantity and quality for the price. For reference this is the appetiser which is just a tiny amount of cucumber and onion with a tiny tub of hoisin sauce for £6.50. When I queried, the owner laughed at me because I received a JustEat discount when placing the order and the owner said that it doesn’t matter as I didn’t actually pay for it since I got a discount. The owner also told me I haven’t lived in this country for long which is why I don’t understand the pricing. They laughed and showed a complete lack of professionalism.
£6.50 and some chicken balls being missed isn’t that big of an issue in itself, but I am shocked and disappointed at the customer service and definitely will not be using this place again. I wish I had listened when I read the bad reviews before i ordered… will not be making that...
Read moreOrdered a family dinner via Ubereats at around 6.30pm. Ordered a selection of different Chinese food totalling £85 with delivery (quite expensive for a takeaway restaurant but the only place open at the time of ordering). Waited and waited. On the app we were told the food will arrive by 8pm at the latest. It didn’t come. The app advised that we call the restaurant. When i called the restaurant, I encountered the rudest person i have ever come across!! He said that the food will be leaving soon, they were very busy and then hung up the phone!! I called back and he hung up again. My brother called back 20 minutes later (still no food) and he told him that the food has left and that we should never order from there ever again. It was a very upsetting encounter. When the food eventually came around 9pm, we were starving!! Only to find that all the food was cold and we had to spend 15 minutes reheating everything. My mum and dad were really upset too! £85 pounds down the drain!! We will never order from here again! They didn’t even give us...
