Not Honest About Their Hygiene Rating.. My partner and I were walking down Green Lanes and thought we’d try Beyti for a quick takeaway. We were curious but cautious, especially when we noticed there was no hygiene rating displayed anywhere on the premises.

We asked the man behind the counter about it, and he just shrugged and said he didn’t know. When we explained it’s a legal requirement to display the rating, he still gave us nothing. That alone was worrying—so we looked it up ourselves afterward.

Turns out the restaurant has a Food Hygiene Rating of 1 (from February 2025). That rating absolutely should be visible to the public, and the fact that it wasn’t—and that staff refused to acknowledge it when asked—feels deceptive and unsafe.

Nice family run place, really good with kids. Great food, especially the stews/casseroles, and unbelievably cheap - we often get t/a for the family on Saturday lunchtime before football and spend less than £20 to fill us all up. If you've never tried proper doner before, this is a good place to pop your doner cherry - lamb leg steaks, marinated and grilled, mmmm, couldn't eat it every day, but a nice treat every now and then. You're just not going to leave this place hungry.

Clean and tidy, cosy by the fire in the winter, but the room could do with a bit of an update - decor/lighting? Nonetheless, wholly recommended and always full...

This is one of the original Ocakbasi restaurants in north London- I’ve been here every now and again for the last 25-35 years, and it has barely changed a bit. And that’s good. The food is simple, with few frills. The grill is central to the layout (classic Ocakbasi) and means you can see your food being cooked as you make your way through your starter. Go for lunch and if you stay long enough you’ll see them prepping the aubergines for the evening’s meals, grilling them on the embers of the charcoal they just used to prepare your food.
