My party went to Kosebasi on 4th May (the first weekend of this restaurant since its opening - apparently earlier in the week). We arrived early for our reservation but were warmly greeted & seated (ground floor behind the screen to the main door) & swiftly a basket of bread & dips was placed on the table....that was the last proactive service experienced.
We had to call the waiter's attention (which ever one was going past) to get drinks (a jug of water / soft drinks which included a juice on the menu with the waiter seemingly not knowing what the juice was) but nothing arrived for c.45 mins, we had to call the waiter's attention (which ever one was going past) to place our food order...we finally got served nearly an hour after being seated (the diners at the table next to ours who arrived after us were served well before us). Once served the wait staff were not seen again until we again had to call the waiter's attention (which ever one was going past) to get our bill which unfortunately was incorrect...was corrected & paid - we left.
The Service: Apart from the initial greeting the service was Dreadful. Not what one would expect from an apparently well established restaurant chain opening on its opening weekend. The restaurant was busy but the restaurant was not correctly staffed for the customer numbers nor did the wait staff seem to understand that service quality is key to maintaining a recurring customer base.
The Seating: Our table situation meant that anytime the door opened a cold draft would wrap around the table so in cold weather the table situation would be uncomfortable. There are two air conditioning units (in a relatively lo ceiling environment) & if on in warmer weather could mean drafts onto diners. In short sitting on the ground floor in the vicinity of the door will likely lead to a poor dining experience. Seating placement aside, the seats were nicely cushioned & comfortable.
The Food: Generally I have always been impressed by the food at the Turkish restaurants at which I have eaten - they invariably grill chicken & lamb in such a way that the outside is nicely crusted with the meat inside juicy & tender, rices are always nicely flavoured. At Kosebashi - given its opening hype & established presence (in Turkey) I had expected my experienced of Turkish food to be elevated....Unfortunately this was not the case, the chicken & lamb dishes were overcooked, dryish & chewy, the rice was nondescript. In short the food quality was disappointing. Perhaps it was just the cook getting used to the grill temperatures on this the opeing weekend but this is supposed to be a professionally run operation.
Roundup: As an area local, I was looking forward to a new restaurant flavour in the area & hoped that Kosebasi would be successful. However, this first experience at Kosebasi was quite disappointing. Hopefully, the management is aware of the problems and is addressing and I would hope to visit again to get a...
Read moreThe most appalling experience ever, I would give this place no stars, but have to leave one to be able to post the review, the service is shocking beyond words, one of the waiters, if you can call him that was one of the ruddiest and arrogant people I have ever met, we arrived to find our table was not ready, so sat at the bar to have empty glasses thrown down in front of us by the waiter, the bar man then managed to knock them over, lucky they were empty! We were then served by four different people, in general it felt like feeding time at the zoo, they for what ever reason could not cope, a customer at the bar started to complain about the service also, shouting loudly at the staff, I felt at the time this was a bit much, but as the evening went on I could understand where he was coming from, things then seemed OK up till we finished our main course, we were then left for about 30 mins until someone cleared our table, then waited another 20mins wanting to see a desert menu, in the end we gave up and asked for the bill, the waiter then came and when I said to him the service was not wonderful, thats when he started, he told me they did not listen to complaints any more and throw my card down on the next table, rather than passing it back to me, the whole situation felt as if it would escalate quickly so I just wanted to get out of the place, I asked for the service charge to be removed also, which he look objection to. Avoid this place, it's so horrible , with much better Turkish restaurants across London than this, never again would I set foot in this place, you try to support your local venues and this is what you get, avoid this truly terrible place, and it's rude so called waiter! TERRIBLE! Evening totally ruined, manager...
Read moreUnfortunately, our experience at this restaurant for our Christmas dinner was extremely disappointing. Despite making advanced reservations and placing our food order the day before, our requests for changes were denied at first, precipitated by the manager's terrible attitude when we called to place the order. Frankly, if we had more time, we would have chosen an alternative restaurant.
To make matters worse, on the day of our event, where we were seated was away from any attentive waitstaff. It took an unnecessarily long time for someone to even take our drink orders. When our main course finally arrived, one of the meals was incorrect. Rather than offering a sincere apology, the manager, Soner, shifted the blame onto us and was defensive when we pointed out his mistake. This lack of customer service was unacceptable.
Moreover, when we requested some additional starters, Soner claimed that there were already too many unexpected requests. However, given that this is a restaurant, one would expect them to be able to accommodate a few extra orders. It is truly disheartening to see a restaurant run by a manager displaying such an awful attitude.
Overall, our experience was marred by zero customer service and a manager who chose to cast blame instead of taking responsibility for their mistakes. It is regrettable to witness the owner of this establishment allowing such incompetence to drive away potential customers. It is no surprise that the...
