Putney Wine Bar & Kitchen — Restaurant in London

Awful experience. The rudest two owners I have ever come across. When I questioned a 12.5 % charge on the drinks ordered (you have to go to the bar yourself for these) I was told it was added for the live music that would be starting and if I didn't like it "write a review'. No mention of this anywhere. Our group of 10 then discovered that we were the only people paying this charge. When we asked about this, the second owner said if we don't like it just leave and that he didn't care if we went. He then claimed the organiser of our table knew about this and it was because we didn't pay a £25 deposit per person for the booking - we double checked this - not true. Such a shame, could be a lovely place, but I would honestly only go if you feel like...

If you are wanting strictly just wine, this is a nice place---it has a good atmosphere and the wine is tasy and reasonably priced. However, if you want to eat anything, I would definitely venture elsewhere. I ordered a spicy prawn pasta. The presentation was not great (or appealing), but it also had 0 chilis in it. Or flavour. It didn't seem to be seasoned at all. I pointed out to the waiter that it had no chilis and he asked if I would like some. I stated that yes, that was why I ordered it. He offered to have the chef make a new one, but I was so hungry that I declined---I needed something to eat right away. He had to bring some chili oil for me to put on top. Really...

We stopped by for a quick drink and were served by a man with glasses behind the bar. From the moment we ordered, he made us feel as if we were inconveniencing him — it was genuinely uncomfortable, almost as if ordering drinks was a bother. We only ordered a Sprite and a water, and I couldn’t help but wonder if that was the reason for his dismissive attitude.

Having worked in hospitality myself, I’ve never encountered such rude and off-putting behavior. As someone who lives in the area and often looks for places with a welcoming ambiance, I’m disappointed to say this spot will definitely not be on my list of recommendations...
