Overall an unpleasant experience - you’re better off going to the tapas restaurant down the road. In terms of service - the lead “waiter” was awful, continuously marching around the table which was disruptive and shook the floor around us. He had a very rude manner and when the food finally arrived (after another party who ordered later than us), he handed one of our group a burning hot plate. He was lucky not to be injured or to drop the plate. Second waiter was better, but refused to acknowledge the temperature was too high, despite sweating profusely. The food - average, small portions and some parts were overcooked and some undercooked. No beers on tap. Would not recommend for a Sunday roast. Calamari was nice. Atmosphere - Bar temperature far too hot, no air con despite it being a hot and humid day. Ruined by the service. 1 star is too high. Positives - The only highlight was leaving and getting into the fresh air. We won’t be coming back.

So this review is for the veg options as I was the sole pescatarian at the table. I was nervous about eating out here but my god, I had SUCH good veg food I had to write about it! I had the spinach and ricotta arancini and the small Asian salad with halloumi and I was stuffed from the meal! There are three arancini served and they are utterly delicious, gooey, hot and incredibly savoury. I had the salad with the dressing on the side and it was still incredibly fresh and satisfying, with crunchy veg and a good mix of veg. My husband and friends all raved on their respective steak and chicken dishes. Great chips as well: chunky and salty. I also had some of my husband’s mushroom side and was pleased how moreish it was seasoned. Yum! The salted caramel ice cream for desert was fine but nothing to rave about: overpriced and I’ve had better. Very good service.

Had a Sunday roast whilst my husband had a Butcher's Feast. The roast meat was tender, but very chewy. The potatoes and the Yorkshire pudding was overcooked and dry. The roast vegetables and tenderstem broccoli were nice. The gravy was average, lacking depth of flavour. Not really a Sunday roast I'd go back for if I'm honest, I'll stick to a traditional pub roast. My husband's meal was also a bit disappointing as well, especially given the price point of £21, the quality and serving felt a bit of a rip off. The service however was attentive and friendly so that's where what the stars are really for. Unfortunately we didn't enjoy the meal, which is a shame as we have tried their other locations previously and had a better food experience.

I’m really sorry to say that one of my favourite restaurants seems to have gone downhill. I’m not sure if it’s changed management or if the standards have just slipped, but this is the first time in a long time that I’ve been really disappointed with my visit. My wife had the fillet which was cooked very well but had clearly sat waiting to be served for a long time. The outside was looking really dry, and while the inside was a lovely pink, it was room temp at best and had zero juices. I ordered the rib special which was warm, not hot, and had the slightest drizzle of sauce on it. I asked for some more sauce which they brought fairly quickly but it was stone cold which didn’t help with the temp of the ribs. In addition to all this the service was really below average. When we asked for anything the waiter seems to be annoyed that he had to do something more. When we got the bill I saw that I had been charged for the additional sauce, so while I would usually grin and bear it, I spoke to the waiter about the issues we had had. He first said that I should have said something earlier, so I replied that I understood, so could he just remove the service charge. He stormed off saying that the service charge was about him and not the food. I called after him to say that was fair enough, and I would be happy to talk to a manager to get it resolved if he would prefer. He wouldn’t listen to me and just kept saying “it’s fine”. Finally, on my way home I got really bad stomach cramps, and I’m sure you can imagine the rest. I can’t say with certainty that it was this meal, but it certainly seemed like it. As I said, this has been one of my favourite restaurants for a very long time, and I really hope this was a once off. Unfortunately it seemed as though all the usual staff were no longer there, so as I say, I’m not sure if it has changed hands. I’m afraid I won’t be...

The food is good here, however the general attitude and approach of the staff is appalling and should be called out for what it is.

I have been visiting the restaurant for many years as I am a Putney resident. Over the years I have found the customer service to have declined exponentially. The staff are often dismissive of walk-ins; and if you have the audacity to book a table after 8pm, they like to make you very aware that they want it back, ie. you have to leave, by 9.45pm. This is their prerogative, however it is very misleading when it states on their website and other sites that they are open until 11pm.

On one occasion, we were sent an email literally during a meal saying that we had to vacate the table by 9.45pm for an 8.30pm booking. Had we known about this before entering the restaurant, we would have cancelled. For a large group spend on a three course meal and wine, it is not how you expect to be treated.

Staff are apathetic, unappreciative and appear to despise the job they have taken of their own free will. They can’t wait to...

This premesis changed hands like the seasons for years. Back then the acid test was if it lasts 3 months we'll check it out. Perhaps that's not the most supportive mentality, but in the back of my mind I struggled to think my business would make a difference in what seemed a systemic problem with this particular spot; perhaps the ley lines are all squiffy there. That, and 10 doors down is an incredible, family-run Italian gaff that I always leave thoroughly sated and satisfied.

Now Roxie is here, though, I'm hoping the pattern will break. Roxie isn't unknown to South London - there are 2 others kicking about doing pretty well by all counts, and I'm hoping the success follows through.

The steak here was sublime. this is like Gaucho quality steak that just melts in your mouth and puts a big grin on your face. Easily washed down with some equally excellent red wine and chips that, while not the best in the world, hold their own at the top of the field.

We spent about £60-70 for 2 with plenty of wine. Would come...
