This place is seriously under staffed. Unfortunately went there at a busy time. Couldn't reserve a table online and staff said they don't do reserves. Waiting for a table for 2, 30 minutes standing, staff ignoring us, people were coming in and helping themselves to tables that were just being cleaned by staff. But told they dont do reserves??? So who are these entitled people? Eventually after an hour of standing we got fed up and sat down at a table that was still being cleaned. After 10 minutes of sitting was told to move because thats a table for 4 and a table for 2 will be ready soon. I said i want to sit here but told no its for a party of 4. We moved to the table for 2 near the door, where people were breathing down my neck waiting for tables. I had to ask for the menu twice. Eventually got the menu and about to order i see a couple who sat exactly where we were sitting before, talk about table for 4??? It was just a couple! so why couldn't i remain sitting there!??? Waited 35 minutes for starters, asked for a mojito with less ice and got a glass full of ice!? Then told can't remake the mojito with less ice, then another staff came and said was their fault they forgot, it was just a S---show. They ruined the whole mood and i couldnt enjoy it there i felt on edge and rushed. The food was ok nothing special and too pricey. We had the platter for 2 which was about £14 and seriously not worth it! Two tiny fish cakes, two slither of chicken skewers, some weird chewed up chicken pieces and two small spring rolls (4 things each), the beef dish was very chewy. The service was terrible from start to end I don't know what the hype is about, its a small restaurant, when its crowded why have only 3 staff members, honesty it really ruined my evening and i wont...

I had the pleasure of dining at Black Lotus in Gants Hill and it was a truly remarkable experience. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by friendly staff and a welcoming atmosphere.

For starters, we ordered the Black Lotus Hors D’oeuvre and Soft Shell Crab. The Hors D’oeuvre was a delightful combination of crispy prawn toast, vegetable spring rolls, and spare ribs. The Soft Shell Crab was perfectly cooked and seasoned, and the accompanying sweet chili sauce was a great complement.

For mains, we opted for the Beef Kaeng Pa Jungle and Chicken Panang Creamy. The beef was cooked to perfection, and the curry had just the right amount of spice. The Chicken Panang Creamy was equally delicious, with a rich and creamy sauce that had a hint of spice. Both dishes were served with fragrant jasmine rice.

Throughout our meal, we were attended to by Kash, the floor manager. He was attentive and knowledgeable, providing excellent recommendations and ensuring that we had a pleasant dining experience.

Overall, Black Lotus is an exceptional restaurant that offers delicious food and impeccable service with onsite parking (access from Gaysham Rd). I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience...

Don't go to many places on their opening week due to my thinking it will be too busy and I hate waiting for a table. However Ive seen this place get refurbished for a few weeks and the inside deco just was eye catching, so thought I had to visit this place. Went on the 3rd day of opening and was full house but luckily we got a table straight away. Due to the business there was a wait to get the order In and for the food to come out but I must admit it was worth it. Firstly the deco of this place is one of the best I've seen, so unique and elegant, was told by the owner the wall deco was painted all by hand. Food wise now managed to try a large variety of the menu as there were 7 of us eating so tried a bit from everyone and overall would give it 4 out of 5 stars, high quality ingredients were used, flavourful however felt the presentation could have been more wow factor to match then deco, hence the 4 stars but overall for everything definitely 5 stars. Management was amazing also as they weren't serving a dessert menu during opening week but the owner went back and made us an exclusive dessert just for us as we were the last table. For Thai food in East London I would say this is the...

Went there in November with a group of friends. The place was very congested and the tables were too close together. Two friends had babies with them and there were no high chairs hence they were in their laps. And one of the kids was extremely hungry and there was no menu for kids and it took atleast an hour for our food to arrive so meanwhile my friend got some chips and pizza from a nearby restaurant and requested the staff if they could let her kid at the premises which the manager clearly denied so my friend fed her little one in the car park. We got Kaeng pa jungle curry which was supposed to be spicy but it was a let down unfortunately as it was bland. Pad Thai and Red curry were really good and spot on. Singaporean rice was good. And Goong phad takrai went down as a treat. We got curries with sticky rice and fried rice and they were good as well. The staff was polite and attentive. The decor was lovely and so was the crockery. Wish we would have known earlier that this isn’t a kid friendly restaurant and hence would have managed our expectations. Maybe would return if they have better seating arrangements and are suitable for families with kids.
