Disastrous experience. If you are looking for a fune dining experience, go somewhere else. It is just dining and nothing, absolutely nothing fine about it.
We went there today for a dinner for two of us. Restaurant was not crowded and we pre-booked a table. The server informed us that the kitchen is very busy so we have to place all the orders now and they will bring it slowly as per our convenience. First they gave us a wrong dish. Though changed it immediately upon informing. While we are eating the appetizers, the server came and asked, should the main course be served? We said, no. Let us finish the appetizer. A few minutes later some restaurant manager looking guy came and asked the same thing. We still have starter left in our plate. So we politely said, once we finish, please serve then. Now after a few minutes a guy came with two main course plate and put it in front of us, pushing aside the appetizer plate, from which we were still eating. By this time our patience ran out but we kept quiet. But a few minutes later when the fourth guy came and asked the same question, we lost all our appetite. We got the main course had couple of spoons and packed rest of it for take away.
This is not all, in between the meal, the restaurant manager looking guy, came to meet and greet a guest whom he knew personally and were sitting at the next table. He was so loud and having a chit chat there with his friends at top of his volume. He was so loud that we could not even talk to each as long as he was there. I don't mind he is doing a meet and greet his friends, but I don't want to listen to their personal conversation.
The restrooms are stinking. Even the tube stations have cleaner restrooms.
We asked for some drinking water. We had to remind twice to get it finally.
The server placed a used bread basket on the biriyani pot which I asked them to pack for take away.
A family with a few kids were there in the restaurants. The kids were creating a ruckus and standing on the chairs with their dirty shoes on. I haven't seen any staff doing anything about it. I feel sorry for the next person who is gonna sit on that chair.
Food is as best as little better than average but not worth the terrible experience.
You may order. But just avoid dining in.
Thank you team Bombay Delight for...
Read moreI came to Bombay Delight to celebrate my birthday with my friends (5 people). We all are originally from different parts of India. I chose the venue because when I saw the Bombay street food and Maharashtrian menu online I was sold. The atmosphere in the venue is simple but chic. The staff is attentive and kind and gave good suggestions about portions that helped us understand how much to order. The food is SO good that I am worried that I will spend half my salary there by visiting it frequently. Taste of the food is authentic Indian taste! We had tandalachi (rice flour) and jowar (millet) bhakri (bread)- still can’t believe they have it on the menu!!, Ratnagirichi Bhajlel kolambi (prawns west maharashtra style), Bharleli VangI (stuffed aubergine)- my childhood memories came alive , Pandhara Rassa (white chicken dish), Veg Maratha (cottage cheese and mixed veg dumpling curry) for mains. Starters we had kasta kachori, chaat bombs, aloo chaat (next time I am going only for all the street food)!!!. Each dish was tastefully flavoured & delicious and absolutely spot on. We were stuffed but couldn’t stop repeating the same order and ate our hearts out. Then we had puran poli (I am still in shock that it is on the menu)!!and cutting chai for dessert. I felt like I am going to cry out of sheer joy! I am in food coma and in a blissful state. Being a Maharashtrian, I could not have asked for a better birthday! To top it all off, the restaurant got a cake for my birthday which was delicious too! Pawan who was tending to our table was amazing and attentive. Thank you very much Bombay Delight for the cake and making my birthday so special. I will definitely be visiting soon and spreading the word! I will highly recommend this place to Indian food lovers, especially to those who want to try authentic Bombay street food and Maharashtrian food! Btw the old fashioned was great too!! Starters were so good, we forgot to take photos once we started eating...
Read moreUpon my recent visit to Bombay Delight, I was immediately impressed by the restaurant's sophisticated decor and ambiance. The establishment boasts an open layout, elegantly enhanced by tasteful lighting and decorations, creating a refined and inviting atmosphere.
The service here deserves special mention. The staff were remarkably attentive and cordial, handling even my more particular requests with professionalism and a positive attitude.
For my meal, I started with the tandoori chicken, which was a highlight due to its rich flavors and excellent preparation. The main course, lamb rogan josh, along with sides of rice, roti, and garlic naan, were all well-presented and delectable, showcasing the culinary expertise of the kitchen.
I accompanied my meal with an old-fashioned cocktail, which was a fitting and enjoyable choice.
In terms of pricing, Bombay Delight is on the higher end, with the total bill for two amounting to approximately £85. However, considering the quality of food and service, this price point seemed justified.
A particularly memorable aspect of my visit was the restaurant's thoughtful gesture of providing a complimentary cake in celebration of our anniversary, which added a special touch to the experience.
While the pricing could be more accessible, it did not detract significantly from the overall value of the experience.
In conclusion, Bombay Delight offers an exceptional dining experience, marked by exquisite cuisine, attentive service, and a sophisticated ambiance. It is a venue I would recommend and look forward to...
