A beautiful pub located 2 minutes walk from Penge West station and a 3 minute walk from Crystal Palace Park (the part of the park with the dinosaurs). It is a pub that offers both beverages and food.
The food served at The Bridge is of the highest quality, is excellent value for money and there is always such a wide variety of options in the menu, whether you want a light snack or an actual meal, whether you are a vegetarian or a meat eater,I can guarantee that you will find something that tickles your taste.
The beverages are also very varied, from a range of spirits, lagers, ales, ciders, wines and even an alcopop or two! However, if you are reading this, and you are going to be the designated driver meaning you cannot drink alcohol, or if for medical reasons, religious reasons, or personal choice you don't drink alcohols, I am pleased to tell you that they have a lovely wide range of soft drinks as well, whether you fancy half a pint of draught coke, a pint of lemonade and lime, some fresh fruit juice, or water whether sparkling or still, they have it behind the bar; unlike a lot of bars, pubs and restaurants who charge an arm and a leg for soft drinks, The Bridge is not like that at all, their soft drinks are very reasonably priced.
Out the back of the pub is a beautiful beer garden which has two levels. There is a area that is covered, for those of you who want to sit outside in the warm weather but not directly in the sun, or you are either a smoker or a vaper and it is raining then you will be well protected under here. The remaining areas of the beer garden have picnic tables with parasols which can be closed or opened depending on your personal preference. Each of the picnic tables are nicely distributed throughout the two levels of the garden, ensuring that you and your friends can talk about anything you like to without the worry of the people in the surrounding tables being able to hear you! Come late spring through summer, the garden comes to life with the most beautiful plants placed all over the garden.
In regards to the staff, each and every single time of which I have been here, the staff have been extremely welcoming, friendly, helpful and happy....even when they ask you for I.D. to ensure you are old enough to be drinking their excellent value alcohol!
When there are public holidays, bank holidays and even throughout the summer, The Bridge regularly has entertainment in the form of a DJ, whilst also having very regular BBQ's
So, if you live in Crystal Palace, Penge, Sydenham, Norwood or the surrounding areas, and want to go to a pub that is excellent value for money, has great food, and will help you discover your new favourite local pub, then The Bridge House is...
Read moreReally nice atmosphere, friendly, & truly considerate service in this intriguing pub/theatre. On several levels, a good layout, & nice quirky decor including a random hen on a ledge! We went for the theatre (nice, comfy, & appropriately intimate atmosphere upstairs) but, on seeing the extensive & varied online menu, booked a table for dinner too, receiving prompt email conformation. It was really busy - Saturday night, so unsurprising - but the service wasn't at all slow & they were very accommodating as we only had time for drinks (nice local beers for my friend, & extra points for them stocking the increasingly prevalent Fever Tree tonics waters for me) & starters before the show but they kept our tab open & relocated us away from the passageway to the loos & right next to the bar for the main course afterwards which meant we were near everyone relevant for the post show chats, instead of hidden around the corner. Not just your basic pub menu, this was really good quality, tasty, & substantial food, particularly the falafel/hummus/flatbread starter, & the salmon/broccoli fishcakes! The roasted sea bass was perfectly cooked & delicious, & the staff were understanding & attentive to my request for identifying items without cow's milk, rather than looking perplexed, uncomfortable, & vague, as I've experienced elsewhere recently. Conveniently located close to Penge West station. I hope to...
Read moreI visited for the first and last time today with my family. The pub itself was very busy which was to be expected for a Sunday afternoon. We ordered a roast dinner each. The one pro was that our food came much quicker then we had expected. The food however was dry and bland so I asked if I could have some mint sauce to add some taste. I had expected as a basic to her offered condiments but that was not the case. 15 minutes later I still had not received it. I went to the bar to ask for the sauce again to be told they had run out. Another member of staff then said I will call the kitchen to check. I explained I was unhappy as my food was now cold. He then said the sauce was being bought up. Another member of staff overheard and said we run out of mint sauce hours ago. At this stage I was really unhappy as it was clear I had been waiting for nothing due to lack of communication between your staff. I expressed this and said the food is dry and bland hence needing the sauce. The member of staff said would I like a new roast as mine was now cold so I accepted this hoping this one would be nicer. It wasn’t. It was worse and full of fat. I did not bother eating it. What a waste of money and time. I will not be visiting your establishment again nor will I recommend you to...
