Visited here, with my wife and youngest God- daughter at Cote Chislehurst for the very first time on Sunday 31/ 7/22, at 1300pm reservation. We stayed for at least 2 hours 30mins. I always believe on the principle in given a 'first time try look in, and to experience as you find' basis when visiting a restaurant - particularly for the first time. Well, my first impressions were encouraged to see an almost packed restaurant on arrival. Good parking in bays just outside the restaurant off the High Street. Also served by bus routes close by..Nos. 61,160,161,162, 273, R7, N136. I was surprised of the very spacious dining area layout inside, very clean, hygenic, airy, modern with soft lighting and decor to suit. Very comfortable seating arrangements, soft relaxing music played in the background. The atmosphere during our time seemed cheerful, a few birthday celebrations were assisted by the staff. The staff and manager I found very kind and helpful, and with good service provided by all staff. Maybe just only a tad slow in speed, but however understandable due to the very busy custom present. But, they were very polite and I enjoyed my short conversations with them...and staff occasionally consulted us and made sure if everything was to our satisfaction. The food PAR EXCELLENCE! True in French 🇫🇷 tradition.....( I recommend the Monkfish) and a reminder when my wife and I enjoyed our 25th Siver Wedding Anniversary in Paris some years back (we are now 42 years ongoing!). In fact, the restaurant brought some memories of this moment on reflection; the surroundings a reminder with some Parisian restaurants we visited. Yes, everything deserves a first chance of opportunity......I for one personally impressed. We will return of course...the standard 👏 , especially the 'CUISINE' its hallmark here, I would say....a rating A1 10/10. Thanks to the owner and staff for hosting us ...keep up the good standards and do further advance progressively. Chris.👍 Revisted with my wife on Tuesday afternoon.2/8/22. Quite and relaxing atmosphere- and a table straight away ready..unbooked! Another excellent meal and service enjoyed at the Cote French restaurant 🇫🇷, Chislehurst, Kent. Thanks Isabella (waitress ) for looking after us! Enjoyed our very brief chat on 🇵🇱 Poland...We will see you all again sometime in the...
Read moreHad dinner here tonight with my wife, daughter and a couple of close friends. The restaurant is beautiful, clean, well presented and has a very welcoming atmosphere. Even though it was very busy being a Friday evening, service was very efficient and the staff are friendly, happy and see to your needs throughout your visit with a smile always on their faces. The food was outstanding, so tasty and just the right amount so you don't feel as if you've over done when you leave. The problems started when we received the bill. It was alot more pricey then we anticipated; 4 adults and a child having a main course each and desert plus 1 soft drink each before the meal and 3 of us having a coffee afterwards apparently cost £149. It wasn't until I read the bill properly I noticed they had included the 12.5% "optional" gratuitous charge into the final bill without even asking us first!! At the bottom of the bill it states: sub total £132 to pay; in the tiniest of writing. So for those of you that read only the sub total in large bold black writing thinking that's what you need to pay then leave a tip on top of that, you are actually being done twice! For example, if I had not spotted the fine print I would have paid £149 and probably left an extra £5-10 tip. The "optional" gratuitous charge on my bill came to £16.60, which had automatically been included in the final total, so I would have potentially given them a £26.60 tip!! This is a clear case of pure profiteering and bordering fraud. The receipt is so misleading unless you take the time to read it properly, otherwise you do get conned without realising it. Then, to add insult to injury, when we did pay, we got short changed. The waitress short changed us by £2 and hoped we wouldn't have noticed. It's a good thing I counted it out before we left and questioned it. Apart from that, a really...
Read moreAwful experience in Cote Chislehurst last night. We were served by a male waiter that clearly had an issue serving three women of colour. He had a slight foreign accent but I didn't manage to get his name. We have all visited various Cote restaurant chains and went to the Chislehurst location for the first time. Our usual order of Steak Frites was not available and the response from the male waiter was 'No that's not available' no apology, no effort to show us an alternative - he simply walked away. I had the mussels instead and my two friends had the chicken - which was undercooked and still pink. The fries were so over cooked that there was no longer any potatoes in them. When we mentioned this to our waiter - again no apology, he simply picked up our plates and walked away. We asked for the bill and he got another member of staff to bring it to our table who was actually much nicer. For some reason this waiter did not like us - we could over hear him being kind and gracious to other tables so we can only imagine that the reason that he was rude and unpleasant to us was due to the fact that we were the only people of colour in the restaurant. He is an absolute disgrace and its a shame that one employee has made me write this review and NEVER return. If you don't like people don't work in customer service. The Manager removed the chicken off the bill and the female waitress that brought over our bill was an angel. When we were explaining the service to the female member of staff the male waiter looked over at us smiling as he was aware we were discussing him. He's an embarrassment to the restaurant. Shame that this one egotistical man ruined what could be a wonderful...
