My experience of this café proves consistently identical to that of Melissa A approximately five months ago (although I have visited almost a dozen times) and is quoted here.
“I can see this place has a good following and I've given it a few tries because it looks warm and welcoming. Sadly this isn't the case in my experience. I find the staff very cold. Both times I have felt like an imposition when a frequent customer has come in and I've been ignored whilst a conversation takes place. I also find the gluten free offering non existent or poor at the best. It’s a shame because I really wanted this place to be a gem.”
Her review is admirably measured.
A fantastically missed opportunity to be the café of choice in Chislehurst. The owner’s tellingly defensive, and probably rude and disrespectful, attitude can perhaps be glimpsed in her response to M Nix’s review about a year ago and indeed to other criticisms.

Read moreOwner is rude, cold, and provides terrible customer service. The younger male employee was friendly and tried his best to make our purchase a pleasant one, but unfortunately, due to the attitude and arrogance of the female owner, I never went back.
Joelle's of Chislehurst has cornered the market in Chislehurst when it comes to independent coffee shops, which is the only reason why the place is so busy - it has nothing to do with the service. Personally, I'd much rather grab a weak coffee from Neros than ever come back here.
Response: Earlier in the year, but I never got around to leaving a review. I love that the official response from the business to this review is a challenge, instead an apology. Not surprised at all considering how unprofessional the owner is - this cold reply is definitely keeping in line with the overall attitude one will find...
Read moreI live in Chislehurst, used to be a regular client until yesterday. I had my usual morning coffee in the morning and stopped at lunch time 2nd time looking for some bread and sweets. When I asked if the shop had bread I was shown a large loaf of bread. I wasn't looking to buy that much and to my innocent question whether it was possible to cut the bread in half I listened to an angry tirade from a lady who appeared to be the shop owner. Apparently, I had no right to ask, and she simply suggested that I should try to cut my dog in half!!!!))))) I was also told off about my 2nd clarifying question, if the bread was fresh. What a nuisance, I am taking my business elsewhere! The quality of coffee was not that great anyway and being rude to clients seems to be a huge attitude issue from the owner (or the...
