CaféGenic — Restaurant in London

I have been to Cafegenic on many occasions in the past. I was there when it first opened and excited to have a cool new cafe in the area. The food, the vibe has always impressed me and I’ve taken friends there. However, today was the last time for me. It’s a Sunday. I went late morning to have a good breakfast and finish some work on my laptop. When I sat down the waitress came and pretty much attacked me for not going to order first before sitting down. I apologised as I didn’t know this was the requirement (as I said, been there many times) and reassured her I will order imminently. So I went to order. She took my order and just before paying she told me I cannot sit where I have chosen to sit with my laptop because they’re busy and giving priority to people who are basically paying more. Bear in my mind I had ordered food and coffee and would have ordered a cake after finishing my work to reward myself. She told me I must sit on the high chairs with my laptop and I sit half an hour before having food. Only then can they prioritise me as a customer. Really? I politely told them to cancel the transaction and left. So moral of the story, if you go when it’s busy and you are alone and they assume you won’t be spending as much money as those with plus 1’s who may or may not be just grabbing a coffee - be prepared to be singled out. And put in the naughty corner. On the high chairs. Even if there are plenty of seats available. Oh, and laptops are not...

It was my very first time visiting this place today with my friend and my little daughter. Staff was amazing friendly and very educated about products they have. I ordered from Brunch menu amazing Brasaola & Ricotta cheese cream toast and I must say I’m very impressed with chef knowledge and quality of food in this unique place at Hendon which could possible compare stars restaurant. I’m very picky person especially when it comes to food as I do have some experience form very good restaurants. And this small Artisan coffee& BakeHouse is definitely on good way to blow up some peoples breath as it’s really that good and tasty. Manager was also very friendly and nice when it comes to greeting, I had quality conversation about restaurant and their product and he was able (REDA was his name) to talk through with knowledge as well, which is nowadays very rare. Well of course when I had such a good experience with food I wanted to try Coffee as well.. just reminding I’m very very picky about coffee.. well not this time! THEY HAVE A NEW BARISTA ( young men with dreadlocks) and let me tell you this: COFFEE WAS AMZING AS I WAS SHOCKED! He had very good knowledge how to make a coffee, taste perfect check/ temperature perfect check/ Overall my experience with this small BakeHouse it’s 10/10 would rate even more. Rude behavior. Very uncomfortable chairs. We came here quite often, and today the owner or manager with 4 tables free in the shop, move us form the table we choose because they have too many people coming in. Even tho the space was half empty. Don’t wanna comment but you can see the picture below

In response to your reply. I asked the staff if I can use both table as your chairs are very inconfortable. But you came and you said it’s not possible because everything is booked, even tho when I came in the store no one asked me if I have a resevation and there is no sign that it was reserved. Instead of appologize for the way you behave with your clients, you came shouting at my table, telling me as well what university you’ve done like I would care. When you tell someone you are the owner as least act like one. I can see you want to show people that you are full.. but this is not the point if all feel the same.
