This was my first & last time to visit this restaurant in Hendon, NW4.
We ordered two Starters which were Chicken Feet in Black Bean Sauce & Garlic Ribs (2 Pcs).
We also ordered two Mains which were Singapore Vermicelli which I ordered “Less Spicy” & the Yellow Chicken Leg Set.
Firstly, they brought out our drinks which were a Diet Coke and a Zero Coke in the can with a straw. I then asked for a glass with some ice for me and no ice for my girlfriend. The waitress replied that they would charge 50p extra for the ice. I declined on principal and just drank our drinks with a straw directly from the cans and I think that is absolutely disgusting to charge for ICE, and have never experienced this before in my lifetime.
Secondly, they brought out the Mains & then after 20 minutes they brought out the Starters. When I approached the waitress and asked her why the mains are being brought out first she replied that the Chicken Feet and the Ribs take a long time to make and therefore thought that she would bring the Mains first, even though Starters are called Starters for a reason.
The taste of the Chicken Feet and the Yellow Chicken was tasteless with no flavour and very bland, and definitely not fresh at all, and the Ribs were coated with a crispy texture but all bone underneath and no meat at all and definitely no Garlic taste either. The Singapore Vermicelli was okay (how could they get that wrong) but still a bit too spicy for me as I was sipping my Coke after every mouthful.
Thirdly, when I requested the Bill, I was told I had to get up from my seat and come to the till to pay. They added 12.5% Service Charge which I declined to pay and was told by the waitress that I had to pay it. I then declined again and asked for the Manager who politely said I don’t have to pay it. Firstly, how can they charge Service Charge and then expect me to come to the till to pay? And secondly, they should not insist to pay it as it’s discretionary in the first place.
We was hoping to find another very good Chinese Restaurant in the area, but unfortunately there’s only one I can highly recommend, and that is the Roast Duck Inn in Hatfield next to Asda which is only 30 minutes away from here. The food is always fresh and 99% of the customers that are in there are all Chinese which surely tells you how good that restaurant really is. Try it and see for yourself, and NO SERVICE CHARGE either and unlimited Chinese Tea for £2.

Read moreI’ve been a regular at wamimichi and have always enjoyed their food, so I was really disappointed with my recent takeout experience. They didn’t provide the correct portions in the takeaway boxes, and I received only two egg fried rice instead of the three I ordered. To make it worse, one was plain rice that I didn’t pay for, leaving me feeling shortchanged.
The quality of the food was also very low this time. The lamb dish was mostly just fat instead of tender meat, and the gyozas were mushy and unappetizing. When I reached out for a refund, the person on the phone didn’t seem to think it was necessary and only provided me with a WhatsApp contact for their manager. Unfortunately, the manager didn't respond or offer a refund or replacement; they simply mentioned that the restaurant was closed.
Afterwards, I tried to seek compensation through Just Eat, but they didn’t reply either. Ultimately, I had to turn to PayPal for compensation, which I did receive—thank you, PayPal!
Overall, this experience has left me quite disheartened. I hope this was just a one-off issue because I’ve always enjoyed dining here...
