This was an exceptional restaurant to eat in. The atmosphere was very captivating and had a very Parisian feel.
I ordered a croque monsieur which was absolutely delicious. It had a very nice presentation and was cut into good bite-sized fingers. It had a perfect crunch to the bread, and the perfect proportions or ham to cheese. I recommend this for small children as well.
My dad ordered the eggs royale and he said that the poached egg was perfectly cooked, the hollandaise sauce and salmon were very tasty, although the muffin could have been a bit crispier.
My mum ordered an egg and avocado toast. She says that the egg was very well cooked (poached egg), the avocado was well flavoured, although there could have been two pieces of bread.
My sister ordered a full English breakfast, and she thought that the sausage, bacon, egg, and mushrooms were very good. The mushrooms were very garlicky, and the bread was good as well. She didn’t think the hash brown was as good though, as it was quite dry, and very small.
For our drinks, I had a hot chocolate which was delicious and had a very very nice presentation. The green apple juice was exceptional and had a wonderful fresh, sour apple taste. I definitely recommend this although - it’s not a regular apple juice if children are looking to order apple juice. My dads Spanish latte was a delightful discovery and he says he will certainly be having it again. (My mum says her tea had a very nice tea bag).
Overall, that was the second time we’ve been, and it was a very satisfactory experience - we will definitely be back and the atmosphere was wonderful.
(I went down to the toilet, and personally I love 90s hiphop. The chefs were listening to some dr Dre and snoop dogg and enjoying the music. It made me happy hearing them...
Read moreRecently I just fancy staying around Kensington High Street, and then I found this cafe. The first time to see the name, I had thought the owner is a Philippinese, but it turns out to be a Italian style cafe. And then the staff told me indeed some of the coffee beans are from Philippine. Located on a quiet side street off Kensington High Street, Cafe Phillies is hidden away from the hustle and bustle. And when sitting by the big glass window and watching the world outside go by, you can feel kind of peaceful inside.

Seating: They have a few outdoor seats, and inside some small tables and chairs, around 30 seats. A little cramped. No charging spots are available.
Ambience: The interior decor is a little mixed, vintage but chic, cool but cute. And they display and sell artworks from local artists on the wall. The natural light is not adequate inside though they have glass windows in the front.
Cost: Coffee £2.5-£3.5 Tea £3.5 Cakes £2.5-£6 Breakfast/Bunch/Lunch £5-£16
Something Special About the Cafe: (1) They put a metal bottle of water on the each table, so you could get tap water without requesting; (2) The location makes it a peaceful place away from the busy Kensington High Street.
Something can be improved: (1) The manager rushed to ask you for ordering and the attitude is not good; (2) The space is a little cramped when it is lunch time and the charging spots are not available though it is called an ideal place to work on the internet; (3) When you think the price is not really for what you are served, they still charge you service fee...
Read moreThis is the first time I felt compelled to leave a review. From the moment we sat down (waiting for 2 friends to arrive) until we left, the waiters made us feel like we need to hurry up, order and leave. 10 minutes into arriving the waiter came saying ‘when are your friends arriving because we can’t hold the table for you’. When our friends arrived they took our order quickly and then as soon as we finished eating breakfast the waiter kept coming saying ‘do you want anything else or shall I bring the bill’. Then the waiter came again as we where drinking our coffee and said ‘a pregnant woman is waiting for your table’. Bearing in mind that this isn’t a place where you book tables and we ordered a full breakfast and the bistro was full this was irrelevant and not sure why he kept harrassing us and not other customers. So we paid (without tipping as we usually do) and left. The food is nice but we all felt harassed to leave from the moment we sat down and it really put a damper on our meeting with friends. I think they are used to certain ‘regulars’ and when they have people who aren’t they want them out quickly to cater for their regulars. Not a cool attitude to have and therefore will not...
