I wonder if the managing group or even the owners of this location are aware of the poor service and attitude of their staff. Why they don’t train them or revisit the premises for reviews and training every now and then?
We were a group of 8 celebrating my friend’s bday and since the time I have stepped in, it felt I was in a newer version of a pub? As no one was at the door to receive a welcoming smile or show me the table. The staff were in the rush to close - they started cleaning the bar and piling up the outside tables at 15.30 despite the fact they were closing at 17.00? The black guy with the glasses and the colourful shorts was the most arrogant one. Stood above one of my friend’s head and he kept asking who’s next, who’s next to pay, like teacher vs. kids in the playground interrupting our conversations instead of going around the table and taking the payment one after the other. When I have said I am next, he said “how much” and whilst he was opposite the table from me. I said, “are you gonna come next to me? It’s little bit far to tap my phone on your POS at that distance” and his answer was again “how much” with such a derogatory and dismissive attitude. He kept staring at me as if he was making me a favour to even hold that POS and even get my money… I had to shout over everyone’s else voices the amount of money - how rude! He didn’t move so when I said “£xx” and then came next to me to get paid. No one came to check if our food was good and if we needed anything else so we kept turning around for the search of staff. Again, not even a single “Bye or Thank you for coming” from the same guy or anyone else at our way out. Just poor service…. which is sad as that’s so...
Read moreMy dad and I went to Caravan for brunch. The service was okay, but it felt a bit sloppy at times. Our order was taken promptly, and the drinks arrived quickly as well, but the food took quite a while, even though it wasn’t busy. It got to the point where I thought, “Hmm, this is taking a bit too long.”
I ordered the chorizo and potato hash, which was absolutely vile – honestly disgusting, disappointing, and a regrettable choice. Please don’t call something a “hash” when it’s just boiled potatoes with a couple of bits of chorizo and a sickly, vinegary sauce that completely overpowers the dish. I might as well have gone to Tesco, bought the ingredients myself, and made it at home. This was especially irritating because I had been looking forward to eating at Caravan for some time, given its reputation, only to be let down by a dish that was not only misleading but utterly unpleasant. There was nothing “hash” about this hash.
To make matters worse, the eggs were overdone and not enjoyable, which was particularly disappointing as I’d heard good things about them. This may have been the worst brunch I’ve had in London all year. Please avoid choosing this dish – I’m sure there’s something else on the menu that’s more edible and palatable. I couldn’t even finish it and ended up getting a Pret sandwich from across the street instead.
My dad had their take on a full English, which he really enjoyed, and I do wish I had ordered that instead. Maybe I just chose the wrong dish – but honestly, if something on the menu is this bad, why is it even there?
I might return one day if I feel like giving it a second chance, but the chorizo hash has left me a...
Read moreFood was fine but service was terrible. My friend asked service to be taken off and the manager huffed over to the table asking why. We work really hard for our money, weren’t even being “stingy” - but had to hound someone down to the table to ask for what we needed all night (instead of enjoying our food), none of it came (we asked for condiments which never came, ordered a cocktail which never came, and asked for another jug of water which never came, and a side of chips that came after 30 minutes)
We would have sat there for the whole night waiting for our order to not taken had my friend not got up and asked for a waiter.
The manger was so so rude! Like he was trying to embarrass us or something.
A note for management - adding service is ridiculous Americanism ANYWAY. I’ve had better help from customer service assistants in retail and they don’t get a dime! I don’t know why servers in the restaurant industry feel so entitled to it. I’ve happily and heavily tipped when my table was waited on WELL. It’s a pleasure and genuinely feels like an additional service. But if someone doesn’t come to the table even ONCE throughout your meal which you hounded them down to take the order for after thirty minutes of sitting at your table then I think it’s fair to feel slighted at an additional 17 quid added to a bill for a “service” you literally never received. It was no different to sitting in Nandos who don’t...
