We came here last night for my sister’s birthday and were left quite disappointed with the level of service and hospitality.
My sister booked a table for 4 people over the phone clearly stating it would be for her birthday. We arrived last night for our booking at 8pm to be told “you have two hours on the table” no ‘hello, welcome, we hope you enjoy’ which left us shocked as this wasn’t something that was ever mentioned whilst booking and a policy I cannot find anywhere on their socials or website. The policy itself isn’t so much of the problem (I understand it’s a common policy in establishments like this) however it’s the lack of communication that is, had we have known we’d have booked the table for a later time in the evening as the entertainment was supposed to start at 10pm but that would have been the time we’d have to leave.
We spoke to a few members of staff asking if there was anyway to accommodate us as we were there for a birthday (stating we had told them this whilst booking) one of the members of staff did try to help and said “if it’s for a birthday we can allow 3 hours” but then came back at a later time to tell us “she tried and it isn’t possible” so the best she could do was for us to stay till 10:30pm. She also told us that she had a few other occasions where she said this has happened before and customers are not informed of the 2 hour table time.
We had ordered drinks to then again be told there would be a £60 minimum charge if we weren’t ordering shisha (again, normal policy’s but they should be somewhere on their socials) We then ordered some food which was taken by a member of staff we later found out she was the floor manager, who came across very cold and not very friendly at all. Again, no hello or welcome, what can I get for you. She just stood blankly at the side of the table. The food was great (the only great thing of the night tbh) and came out fast but the overall ending of the night is why my rating is so low.
We had brought a cake in to sing happy birthday to my sister, which they brought to us after telling us we needed to leave, how can you kick customers out before they’ve even celebrated the reason they’re out for? We were all feeling very frustrated and upset by the service especially my sister. We asked if we could atleast view the entertainment as it was one of the reasons my sister picked this place. The floor manager said “you can watch her first set then leave” which honestly we were just trying to salvage the night.
After the entertainment finished her first set the floor manager came to our table with a card machine in her hand, no bill had been given to us so how are we supposed to pay without us even seeing it.. this obviously left us even more confused. She then accused a member of our party of shouting at her (bare in mind you’re in a small location where music is at a high decibel and talking with your normal voice can’t be heard easily) which then somehow she felt that shouting at us would make the situation better? “You think I can’t shout? I know how to shout” her words not mine! Not sure when managers were allowed to speak to customers like this? We stated we hadn’t received the bill yet and by this point, we were all deflated, tensions were high and we were just fed up and wanted out.. A man from the bar came out to try defuse the situation as the floor manager was very argumentative and wasn’t helping. We paid our bill and left, they offered us free shots but for what? I was already bored, unimpressed and halfway through being booted out.
Overall the service (for us) clearly was appalling and honestly don’t think this is a birthday event my sister wants to...
Read moreEnjoyed my experience at Mesa Kitchen. I went to the lounge area for shisha which was really busy, but to be expected for a Saturday. The decor is cute and it's cosier than I expected with a mixed crowd. They have an interactive games table which was reserved for another group but we were seated next to it and it was definitely something I'd be interested in booking next time I visit. Had arcade games that up to 4 people can play together which I thought was cool. We ordered 2 shishas - one Frozen Lemon and Blueberry and the other was Savacco's Blk Mamba which the staff recommended to mix with Pink Lemonade. They were both a bit harsh to begin with 4 coals but after taking one down, the lemon and blueberry was lovely to smoke. I feel that I could barely taste the Blk Mamba so next time I won't mix it with anything. The pink lemonade percentage overpowered it and got a bit harsh towards the end. Was a bit difficult to get the attention of staff because of how busy it was but because it was my first visit, I didn't want to be difficult. They have QR code menus with a lovely mix of food and we ordered the Mac n Cheese, Chicken Wings and Curly fries. Can't go wrong with any of those but I partial to a good fried wing from chicken shops so I prefer those. For drinks, we ordered Verry Berry and a classic virgin mojito - both were tasty. My personal preference is to have less syrup in my mojito and for it to be really tart which it wasn't on this occasion but it still quenched my thirst. The price point for shishas i think was a bit high in my opinion, charging £30 for Al Fakher and Special flavours as well as Savacco. Total bill for the above came to £108 for 3 people. The atmosphere was vibrant and lively and the staff were friendly and checked up on us a couple of times. There's private parking available across the road. The restaurant looks nice from the outside. Will definitely come back when it's a...
Read moreMesa kitchen is an example of what a great restaurant should be. From the front of house all the way to the kitchen, the entire experience is flawless.
We first went here on New Year's Eve, right from the point we made the reservation we were kept informed about closing times etc.
Upon arrival, we were greeted by a welcoming team. Friendly and lively, great with their recommendations too.
The starters were delicious, the wings are a definite must try for anyone who likes their wings. Presentation was up there with fine dining establishments.
For those that don't drink, there is a decent list of mocktails on offer. Their Pina Colada went down well with the group.
I had the T-bone steak, and it was perfection on a plate. The sauce it came with complimented it perfectly. I'd recommend having a side of Fries with mayo garlic.
Overall we were so impressed with our experience that we booked to come here after our wedding for a small group. The venue was very accommodating, even going as far as to open slightly earlier for us. We cannot thank you enough for doing this for us.
On this occasion, I had the Mixed Grill and was not disappointed. The quality of the meat was some of the best I've ever eaten. Cooked perfectly and tender. The Adana was bursting with flavour too. Ordered with a side of mayo fries, it definitely left me feeling satisfied.
Put simply, I can't recommend this place highly enough. Mesa kitchen, keep up the great work and you've got...
