You need to improve your customer services Cannons!!! I called Cannons at precisely 18.32 and ordered a cod, a plaice and chips. I was told it would be about 10 minutes. I walked into their shop at 18.41 and got in the queue waiting to hear my name to be called out, there was about 8 people waiting to collect and as many lined up to order. After about 12-15 minutes I got concerned and asked the people in front of me if I could jump the queue to ask about my order and I was allowed to do this.
The lady behind the counter was already serving another customer, I politely asked if my order had been forgotten, I gave her my name and she turned around and asked her colleague. Her colleague pointed to a bag under the till and said there it is, its been ready all the time. So the whole time I stood there waiting my order was ready.
I then turned around and asked if my name had been called out 15-18 minutes ago and if so didn't she think to call my name out again? She replied NO WE'RE TOO BUSY TO KEEP CALLING OUT NAMES.
I was annoyed but I thought well its cold fish and soggy chips night tonight and got ready to pay. The lady behind the counter then decided to charge the customer 1st in the queue. The customer gave her credit card and as the cc card was being processed the PDQ device developed a fault. The sales lady started looking at it, banging it, turning it upside down. Banging it again and again, by then I had had enough and I just walked out.
I called my wife and explained what happened, we ended up having Pizza from Pizza Express.
Cannons, I have no idea if you care or not but you've lost a loyal customer that regularly buys take away and many times a year eats in your restaurant. IF you think it is good policy to NOT REPEAT a collecting customers name should the customer not be present at your first shout then you are going to face similar problems.
In the event you read my review would you be so kind and explain what harm would it do to your business to repeat collecting customers name more than once? The customer may even be at the queue but got distracted because his mobile phone rang or maybe it was noisy in your restaurant at that prices moment and didn't hear his/her name being called out. It is ridiculous to say you will only call out the customers name once because...
Read moreFish was cooked nicely and the batter was a good texture but was a bit bland. We had an issue trying to get our buggy in to the restaurant, I had asked them earlier in the day and they said there would be no issues, however there was no space when we arrived. So I said we would take the babies in car seats to which they gave us a table. After faffing around and putting the buggy back in the car and returning with 2 babies in car seats it was apparent that they still wouldn't fit. There was only one large table that would fit us all but I was told we couldn't sit there as it was reserved, having been told earlier that we couldn't reserve a table. I questioned this with the waitress who said you can't reserve a table on Friday night, but that table was family. The waitress was friendly enough but they were all a bit clueless and completely unhelpful when it comes to bringing a buggy or car seats. For a small restaurant it's really bad practice to reserve almost 1/3 of it for family, breaking their own rules about reserving tables and putting their patrons second. My husband eventually had to go home with our babies while I stayed with our guests. Needless to say we won't...
Read moreJust collected after a visit to this place for the first time for lunch today, as I live locally. Restaurant was full and for takeaway there was a queue. When I did get food and take home, it was hands down THE MOST AWFUL CHIPS I have ever tasted from a fish and chip shop. Brittle, pale, chewy, old stale taste and lifeless. A real disappointment and practically ruined the experience for me, my partner and her friend. A shame because the fish, scampi, fish cakes were decent. Reading the comments here, I see a previous reviewer has commented about exactly the same, and phoned them up to complain, whereby they were told it must be a bad variety of potato. It didn't fool them as they had kitchen restaurant experience. I have to agree with them that it seemed the chips had been cooked some time before, possibly even the night before. But I would add that this time, it could've been that they were undercooked due to them being busy. Order at your peril, but don't say I didn't warn you. I was fooled by the gentrified look of the place from the outside, which of course, is no guarantee of the experience you'll get...
