Visited twice now, for eat in and takeaway, and really disappointed both times.
Really quite expensive for some very average food.
The chicken pitta doesn’t work. The pitta acts like a trap door when you lift it up. I lost half of the measly chicken portion to the dusty gap under the fridge. I was left trying to eat diced cucumber and salad with a plastic fork. It might as well have been a soup for how successful that was.
Pittas are great for dips, but terrible for kebabs.
They also got the orders wrong for both the sit down meal and somehow even for the takeaway which was only one dish.
Having read other reviews, I can see why they gave me (and charged me for) the more expensive chicken pitta (£12). The chicken box I actually asked for has got some other scathing reviews on here for being wildly overpriced (£8 for a few cubes) and my guess is they are embarrassed to serve it in fear of more photos being posted online.
The grilled veg is a joke of a dish for about £8 too. We got basically a whole onion and one slice of courgette.
The chicken is cooked well, but it lacks any great flavour. I can cook chicken well at home, and I will next time.
Or head further South down Green Lanes for some mighty kebabs for a similar price that are fantastic and don’t collapse in on themselves.
EDIT - while I really appreciate they responded to this remarkably quickly with an extremely well structured and diplomatic response, I am sceptical. It sounds like a press release some political spin doctors would put out, which is impressive in such a short space of time. My real feeling is that it was probably written with AI and with very little genuine...
Read moreTakeaway (entrance on High St) and slightly less obvious sit-down restaurant (entrance a little bit into Meadway). I actually ordered from the takeaway before realising there was a whole other restaurant next door, it could do with better signage! I went to Dionysus on the recommendation of a former Greek Cypriot colleague, especially for the sheftalia (pork meatballs wrapped in caul fat). They were well-seasoned, and came with plenty of lemon to squeeze on. There were also smashed green olives marinated with lemon rind and coriander seeds, which come with carrot and turnip batons. The staff and clientele were very friendly, some started to chat with me about the history of this restaurant and there was a little girl having her birthday (candle on her sheftalia). The server even put on Happy birthday on the speakers. The restrooms were also pleasant, with the faint noise of cicadas playing. If you’re lucky, it may be possible to ask for an “off-menu” Greek coffee, which i was told is made in a manner similar to Turkish coffee, with Arabica beans. I also came again to try the avgolemono soup, as Dionysus is one of the few restaurants in London to serve it. Be warned - it’s very sharp and tangy. All in all, I thoroughly...
Read moreFirst time trying the place, ordered 6meals. Food was lovely although portions smaller than other places that we order the same from. Also much more expensive, what normally costs us around £60 for takeaway, cost £90 here. The order was also wrong as we requested chicken gyros but received chicken shish instead. When I called to query this, was told they dont do gyros (but the lady on the phone should've advise so). We were also overcharged, reimbursement was offered once I queried it but we had already driven home by that time and told him to keep it. Very busy, unorganised. Food good but wont be going back, prefer our usual place The VineLeaf in Winchmore Hill. It a shame as this place is closer in location. 3 stars given due to overall experience as a new customer. If it hadn't been for the hour wait, overcharge, portion sizes, I would've given the actual...
