This is a response to Aidan S’s review. As one of the barmaids that was on shift that day that he had to be removed from the pub. At no point did we tell him that is was his own fault that a wasp flew in his drink we politely informed him we would not be giving him a free replacement as he had already finished majority of the drink. He then fished the wasp out of the drink and was going around threatening to put it in other customers drinks. He then asked to speak to a supervisor to which I was called over and in response he said “I don’t want to speak to a woman bring me over a man”. So I brought over the manager who was polite to him the entire conversation and Aidan was just trying to antagonise him in response. The manager politely told him why we could not offer the replacement he was just responding with nasty comments.
He then left for an hour and came back in and started trying to bully the female employees on shift. He was filming us constantly trying to intimidate us. He then went into the toilet and blocked it up so no other customer could use it.
The only reason the manager had to get involved is because he was bullying 2 young barmaids and making them feel uncomfortable to the point our manager removed him as we did not feel comfortable.
The manager gently ushered him out and then he started recording saying he had been assaulted which was...
Read moreFirst thing to be said is I love this place. It's a great meeting place, also the nearest thing we locals have to being a traditional independent pub and its a massive plus for the local community...... but .......
I've been coming into this pub for several years now, at least once a month to the Folk night and sometimes 2 or 3 times a month to other musical evenings in addition, and although the ale (as opposed to "lagers" or "beers") have never been great, even under previous tenants, it has generally been passable at best, though never perfect!........until recently..... and in particular Monday 13th January, when it was extremely poor.
.....To the point that I was ill in the traditional beer drinking sense when bad beer is partaken (only 4 pints, truly) causing me to be ill through the night.
Both ales being served on the night (La Bamba and Golden Hen..... London Pride not available) had strange chemical taste which was borderline at time of drinking in terms of complaining.
My pal left a full pint of La Bamba and a half pint of Golden Hen.
I do hope that in future the real ale situation is sorted out regarding the upkeep and maintenance of the ales.
If the ale was great, I'd be in the pub 8 times a month.
Please don't force us ale drinkers onto the bottle.....the pub...
Read moreSo we come here to support our local pub. The kitchen was closed for a long time over the years so we decided to splash out on their new menu.
It was around 6pm on Friday and the kitchen still wasn't open when we tried to order but they said it will be in around 15 mins. Odd for a Friday but no biggie we waited.
We ordered. 40 mins flew by and we were wondering what was going on. The bartender did mention there would be a bit of a delay so maybe it was worse than we thought.
Then we hit one hour. I asked the bartender if she can look into what's going on with our order. She confirms the ticket for our order didn't even get to the chef.
I asked for a refund as we were hungry. We got a apology while the refund was processed. I was really surprised how they dealt with this. Is it a regular occurrence? Not asking if there's anything they could do?
Really disappointing. We came to support our local and this is the treatment we got. We're not expecting free things. Just acknowledge the mistake and empathise that we had to wait over an hour for nothing.
I really hope they sort things out but unfortunately we won't be...
