Oh boy where do i start. I haven't been to Bang bang for over 5 years so this was my first time in a while. Beforehand i looked at all the restaurants beforehand and their menus and seems Yaki Ya stands out to me. I ordered Tako Yaki + Beef soba. The food was delicious and sweet and it was enjoyable. It was really nice, However the garnish of lettuce that the Tako Yaki sits are stale and dry. You can clearly see they have been sitting for a very long time and bruised on the edges. We didn't dare to eat them The lady with glasses who did my order was nice and sweet but lacked hygiene. At first she was putting in orders with the same gloves whenever i saw her, she would eat mouthfuls of food i can see her from the back with the same gloves, she prepared orders and foods with the same gloves... By the time i got my order she handed me cutlery + chopsticks that was smothered in sauce at the end which we had to wipe off. Very unfortunate because she was very nice. For our drinks we went to Yaki Ya Deserts (which i did not know there was another stall) The lady there with glasses was also very nice and sweet, amazing service. I got the Ferraro Roche Milkshake with boba and my boyfriend got Kit kat shake. My boyfriends shake was amazing and delicious and would reccomend however mine was okay. The pearls however was terrible. Soft and can bite through them and not chewy like normal boba should. Disappointing because i was really looking forward for this boba. I also rarely taste the Ferraro Roche in my drink. Overall, the food was great, staff needs more hygiene, don't get boba with your drink at Yaki Ya desert because it may likely not be fresh and it is terribly overpriced. £5.99 for each drink. If you're into Boba you can easily get a £3.60 very high quality one or just go to Tiger Hall but i assume they're also expensive.

We ordered a mixed starter box, which included spring rolls, fried chicken, chicken katsu and a chicken katsu and dumplings. The mixed starter box was a good portion and certainly needs to be shared with 2-3 people. The spring rolls had an usual texture, almost like the pastry used is the same for prawn crackers. I did enjoy this unusual texture, as I’ve never had spring rolls in this way. The chicken katsu was good, without being spectacular. The dumplings were okay, but not something I would try again. The fried chicken was really enjoyable, tasty and crispy and probably my favourite out of the starter box. We also got the chicken katsu starter box, which had the chicken katsu, of course, along with some tofu, sticky rice, salad, soup and some type of gravy. As mentioned above, the chicken katsu was good. The salad, a small portion is a bit of a let down and doesn’t really add anything to the meal. The rice is really lovely as well as the soup and gravy. The tofu was good, without being spectacular. This made for a good main, which is a great portion too, however probably slightly overpriced. Overall, this is a good place to visit when you are at Bang Bang. I had a lot of mixed items so it was good to try them out. These ranged from great to not so good, however enough of the items were of a good quality for me to rate this as a 4. The portions are really good and I would like to go back to have more of the fried chicken and spring rolls. It is slightly overpriced, I feel. I was also given a voucher to try out their dessert area located just opposite, which is a nice touch.

We recently celebrated my son's 12th birthday at Yaki Ya, and I have to say, it was an incredible experience from start to finish! From the moment we arrived, the staff were welcoming, and the ambiance was perfect for both kids and adults alike. I had coordinated with the manager, Mishu, beforehand to arrange meals for 14 children and a few adults. They had the orders perfectly prepared and tailored to each child's preferences, which isn't an easy feat! The food was served promptly and tasted fantastic – the kids especially loved the variety of ramen, teriyaki, and katsu dishes. The standout was how Mishu went above and beyond to make the day special. He was not only attentive to every detail but also surprised our son with a lovely birthday gift! It was such a thoughtful gesture that truly made Gabriel’s day memorable. The staff were professional, friendly, and made sure we all felt at home. Yaki Ya’s menu offers a great selection of delicious Japanese dishes, and the presentation of the food is top-notch. The restaurant itself is modern and inviting – perfect for a family celebration or any occasion. Mishu also generously provided us with a discount, which we greatly appreciated. Overall, Yaki Ya is a gem of a restaurant. It’s not just about the food (which is amazing); it's about the warm, friendly service that makes every customer feel valued. Highly recommend for family gatherings or any special event! We'll definitely be back.

Serious Allergy Incident on 13.04.24 – Request for Menu Clarification and Allergy Protocol (DESSERTS BY YAKI YA!)

I’m writing to raise a serious concern following my visit to your store on 13th April 2024. I ordered the Kinder Bueno Waffle and, unfortunately, suffered a severe allergic reaction shortly afterward, which resulted in me being hospitalised.

I have a peanut allergy, but I am able to consume tree nuts without any issue. I’ve also ordered from Yaki Ya before, including the Kinder Bueno milkshake, with no problems, so this experience was especially alarming.

After reviewing the descriptions of the Kinder Bueno Waffle across platforms, I noticed significant inconsistencies:

On Uber Eats, it states: “Kinder Bueno gelato, chocolate sauce, Kinder Bueno chocolate and shavings” – there is no mention at all that the waffle is topped with tree nuts or peanuts.

On Deliveroo, it says: “Kinder Bueno gelato, drizzled with rich chocolate sauce, topped with crunchy nuts, and finished with pieces of decadent Kinder Bueno chocolate” – still no specific mention of peanuts.

In-store : the menu only lists “nuts" – again, no clear reference to peanuts.

On the Bang Bang website : it says “Kinder Bueno Gelato, Hazelnut Sauce, Kinder Bueno Chocolate and chocolate shavings,” and also makes no mention of tree nuts or peanuts being included.

This lack of consistency — and more importantly, the lack of clear allergen information — is extremely dangerous for allergy sufferers. Clear and specific labelling is critical when dealing with allergens like peanuts, especially when it isn’t expected in a dessert like this. For example, your NuttyFruity Waffle does specify peanuts in its description, which makes it easier for someone with allergies to avoid it, but the Kinder Bueno Waffle does not.

I kindly urge you to:

Update and standardise the product descriptions across ALL platforms (Uber Eats, Deliveroo, your website, and in-store menus) to accurately reflect the ingredients, especially if peanuts are used.

Ensure allergen information is clearly stated and specific (e.g., "contains peanuts" rather than just "nuts").

Encourage your staff to ask about allergies at the time of order to help prevent incidents like this in the future. At no point was I asked by staff whether I had any allergies, which is deeply concerning.

This is not just about my experience, it's about protecting future customers who might face similar risks. I hope you take this feedback seriously and implement the necessary changes as soon...

Having experienced authentic ramen across various cities in Japan, I was excited to try this restaurant in Colindale, hoping for flavors reminiscent of those bowls. I couldn’t even wait for their Edgware branch to open and made my way to Colindale, but it was a major disappointment.

We tried the chicken, beef, and seafood options, but all fell short. The tantanmen broth, which should be rich and creamy, tasted like thin, salty, and spicy water. The noodles were soft and lacked that essential chewiness, possibly overcooked. Even the fish cakes were completely missing.

I don’t give extra stars or approval just because a place is halal. It's not hard to find halal Japanese food in London anymore. What I care about is quality and taste and this didn’t deliver. Even my family, some of whom haven’t been to Japan, didn’t enjoy it. We’ve made better tantanmen ramen at home.

The price seemed average for London, though I don’t have enough experience with other ramen spots to say for sure. The staff were friendly and provided good service, so I can’t fault them there. And I don’t understand complaints about crowds or queues. It’s a food hall, what do people expect?

What bothered me most was the hype. Social media influencers and a flood of five-star reviews raised my expectations massively. I found out by reading another review that they were giving out ice cream for reviews. I don’t like giving one-star reviews, but given the mismatch between the hype and the actual food, I can’t justify anything higher.

That being said, I genuinely want to see this place improve. Having a proper ramen spot nearby would be amazing. If they make significant changes to their recipe, I’d be happy to give it another try. But right now, I can’t recommend it to anyone who knows what good ramen...
