Review for Chef’s Treat, Lewisham
I recently visited Chef’s Treat on 1st October 2024 around 12:45 PM, and unfortunately, I had a terrible experience. After eating a meal that included clearly old mushrooms, I became violently ill with severe food poisoning. The symptoms, including extreme vomiting, started soon after my meal and have left me unable to eat since.
In an attempt to resolve the situation, I called the cafe multiple times to speak with the manager. However, the manager was rude, unprofessional, and even hung up the phone during one of my calls. I made six attempts to reach them, but they showed no interest in addressing the matter or offering any sort of help.
Based on this experience, I am extremely concerned about the hygiene and food safety standards at this establishment. I strongly advise anyone considering dining here...

I tend to order the breakfast/brunch and ask them to cook some of the items well done. The black pudding is never cooked enough and cut too thick, as with the egg is way too under cooked. I have continually asked them to cook the black pudding fully but it's either ignored by the cook, or the waitress didn't bother to ask. Yesterday was the 3rd sunday on the trot it came to me uncooked. This was enough for me. I didn't even have one mouthful or even a sip of coffee, I just got up and left. No discussion, no complaining, no explanation, just up and out the door without saying a word. Read moreI've been using this cafe for quite a few years, the service and the food had always been a delight; however, over the past 18 months the service has slowly deteriorated to waiting for 15 mins before being served after being by-passed even after asking twice if I could be served - 2 other were served before me. The waiting staff are killing this once 5 star cafe. There use to be just 2 people serving and they were on point, (haven't seen one since it was obvious she was pregnant). Today I heard 3 other people complaining about the lack of service. There are so many people working at the kitchen end, sitting on their backsides when they could be helping.
