Chestnut Cafe — Restaurant in London

I wanted to share an experience I had at a cafe recently. I took my one-year-old son out for a quick meal, but unfortunately, we encountered a rather upsetting situation. My son, who is only one year old, was enjoying an ice lolly in his highchair. He dropped the wrapper on the floor, and I was about to pick it up when I noticed the cashier seemed quite frustrated. I assured him I would take care of it. Then, my son put the lolly on the table, and the cashier's frustration seemed to escalate, though I tried to ignore it. However, when my son attempted to get out of the highchair, the cashier started shouting in front of all the customers. It was incredibly embarrassing and completely unnecessary, especially considering he's just a baby.

There was no compassion, given my son's age he was one years old ,the cashier's behavior was so disturbing that I felt compelled to pack up my food, which I hadn't even had a chance to eat, and leave. It was disheartening to be treated poorly simply because I had a young child.

Although the cashier did apologise, I couldn't shake off the unease I felt after we got home. It's definitely not a child-friendly place, and I don't plan on going back. People I need to learn how to be kind the world will be such a better place. You don’t know what people are going through behind...

Despite being within a very short walking distance of where I live, this penultimate Wednesday of July 2024 was my first visit to the cafe which was popular with my Dad. Lovely place to eat. Usual cafe menu. Really reasonably priced. The Half Pound burger I had was cooked to perfection and was almost too hot to handle. Steady stream of many customers from the hospital staff opposite but being off the beaten track means not so busy and service...

Best cafe in the area, great value for great portions, coffee affordable rather than a rip off like in the hipster cafes but just as good, and best of all is the service Hassan and co who run the cafe are amazing people, always warm and friendly - lovely place, always keep...
