This place I slept on since they been open in 2003, when it was just a single premise business, and now they've expanded to a total of now 5, after buying out their neighbours over the years, which tells me they've expanded, therefore must have been doing something right to have gotten this big. I remember when I used to get lahmachun from here back in 2006 time but never really sat in to eat, as I used to get a quick kebab from Manor House. Today was actually the first time I've ever sat in & ate despite living in the local area and walked past this business millions of times and seeing it busy. I ordered the mixed platter, which was around £20 and could feed 2 people. Consisted of lamb shish, chicken shish, kofte, 3 pieces of lamb ribs and maybe 3-4 wings, with rice and bread, not to mention the salad. I must say the lamb shish was exceptionally good, very tender and juicy, probably the best shish I've ever had in my life actually, it wasn't hard & stringy. The chicken shish breast cubes were a decent size. The kofte meat I'd have to say was standard. Understandably, this place does not do donner, their premise across the road do, and the waiter explained that they could fetch the donner if wanted as that donner shop is more of an extension of the same shop.
My friend also ordered a drink. So the total came to £24, and to my surprise (a very much pleasant surprise), they did NOT slyly add in the 10% service charge on top which other businesses in the area do, where they put you in an awkward position where you'd have to request them to remove it, this place is considerate.
Would I come here again ? Most definately. I can't believe I overlooked this restaurant for over 16 years, as I only only went to Golyuzu, Devran, Diyabakir, Selale and Harran, aswell as others that closed down over the years like Mangal and Sofra. Why did I overlook this restaurant for so long ? Maybe because I thought since they didn't do donner therefore not my thing. I'm happy for the stakeholders of this business and happy they've managed to expand so quickly. Definately an asset in the local area for Turkish dining, which attracts crowds from all...
Read moreWe visited this place as a group of 13 people, including 5 children, and our experience started poorly. When we tried to order döner for the kids from the neighboring "Antepliler Döner," we were told they could only bring two portions. To make matters worse, they charged £23 per döner, which costs £18 if you eat it directly at their place just 10 meters away—a clear opportunistic move.
After that, they took our orders, but the service was chaotic. Before the meat dishes arrived, they piled everything else on the table. Some of us got our soup first, while others received their lahmacun before the soup. Everything was brought in a mixed-up order. At one point, I had to intervene and say, "Hold the meat dishes until the table is cleared; don’t pile everything here."
Adding to the disorganization, the waiter who took some of our orders went to the restroom and only informed the kitchen about those orders half an hour later. The table was completely neglected, and we ended up clearing our empty plates ourselves and placing them in the dirty dish area. We had to ask four different staff members to get tea, and it took multiple requests before it finally arrived. Similarly, we had to ask for water three times, and it still took 15 minutes to get it. When we ordered dessert, some of it didn’t even arrive. I had to remind them three times about the rice pudding I had ordered ("I ordered sütlaç, where is it?"), and eventually, the head waiter noticed the situation. He brought two rice puddings, saying they were on the house, but one of them was still added to the bill.
The food itself was average—nothing extraordinary. When the bill arrived, I removed the service charge for only the second time in my life. I also pointed out to the head waiter that I had added the extra rice pudding he claimed was complimentary to the bill. I explained why I removed the service charge, detailing all the issues we encountered.
As a result, this place has been permanently blacklisted for us. We will never return, and we’ll make sure to warn everyone we know against visiting...
Read moreUnfortunately I have to take one star back from my previous rating from Antepliler... I had a veggie kebab and wife had a mix kebab; We both thought that the mix meat kebab was ok as before but the veggie kebab lacked of the touch of a gurmet cook and not well prepared and not cooked bombarded with mushrooms which knocked down to 3rd or 4th class kebab rating ,not matching the image of Antepliler in our eyes. The quality of Turkish coffee and the tea we had also left us wondering what's gone wrong with them.
Sorry Guys do your home work othwise you are slipping fast down the restaurant league in Green Lane.
Updating as of Sunday 13.5.19 I took my family out for dinner at Antepliler as it was Mothers Day back in Turkey. We ordered a shared kebab for 4-5 people and it turned out to be very poor standard for Antepliler which I have always regarded the flagship kebab restaurant in Green Lanes. The share plate was dominantly covered with a huge pide the Turkish bread and ribs and chicken wings and a weird somewhat bulgar kofte that was dry and tasteless, and some adana kebab and shish kebab embedded on chick peas bulgar pilaw. The service plates were slightly bigger than a tea sourcer. The tables looked very poor and what laid on it were shabby looking servicing papers they rather looked like used news papers on the table. The meze served to the main course were also very poor and tasteless;I noticed no one enjoyed these aperitifs and all left over particularly the mucver(the fried up courgette mix). The only thing was right was the complementary pudding and the Turkish tea... Hey Guys, this is last chance before I take another star off from my rating and stop recommending Antepliler to my clients and friends. I would like to see my favourite kebab shop Antepliler back in the race and back in the premier kebab restaurant league.Greetings from ...
