APPALLING, this was my second visit, returned following a previous good experience but the same can't be said for today, it left a sour taste in our mouth and we won't be returning, ever. Extremely RUDE chef who clearly knows nothing about customer service, I ordered a greens a folks breakfast, upon receiving my order I noticed the egg was a little underdone as I ordered a fried egg but the egg white was not cooked, It was clear and runny. I asked one of the friendly staff if I could get it changed who kindly took it back, a minute later we could clearly overhear the chef bashing us and complaining that I should have ordered the egg to be well done and this was how it was supposed to be. This was extremely unsettling and made us all feel very uncomfortable he was saying it loud enough so we could hear, really should have just walked out at this point...
A good few minutes later I received my plate back, the chef had taken the egg and reheated it, I have attached the picture so you can view, I did not eat this it looked unappealing and I could have cooked an egg better with my eyes close. What I could not understand was, why he could not just make another egg, really doesn't cost that much and visiting a restaurant there's a level of service you expect, this just was not it. The chef continued to glare towards our table making us all feel uncomfortable clearly his ego was bruised by this complaint, this could have all been avoided all together, there was no level of care what so ever.
I ended up complaining to the attending manager who agreed this was not an acceptable presentation of food and removed the egg from the order, still ridiculous, I will never return again, an ignorant rude chef ruined this place for us. there are plenty of other places to go who would not treat paying customers this way, I hope this was just a bad day for him but this was not an acceptable way to behave with any customer, I will spend my money elsewhere.
I hope this feedback is taken away and changes made so customers in future aren't made to feel the same, so so disappointing, it's never nice to feel intimidated by...

If you’re taking a weekend stroll through downhills park, you will find a lovely little restaurant, coming on to Phillip lane. Friendly welcoming staff to greet and seat you. We sat in the open seated area which has a retractable roof… perfect for spring/summer weather.
Interior is very trendy with its colourful walls, flowers, paintings and pictures. Nothing dull or boring about this place. You’ll be pleased to know it’s child and dog friendly. I only mention this because I saw a few children sipping happily on their milkshakes while parents conversed. Later then seeing the same children climbing on the chairs, clearly they enjoyed themselves. Although the parents were rethinking the milkshake (sugar) situation. A little pooch that sat next to us all well behaved tail wagging… Think he was no hoping I’d drop something off my plate. Not a chance mate!
I ordered the “Evergreen Breakfast” I opted for no mushrooms but added eggs. Great portion size, didn’t have to wait long and couldn’t finish what was on my plate. Very flavourful and well doesn’t it just look fantastic! That meal will last me till dinner… (2hrs later…)
My friend ordered the “Brekkie Bun”, she said it was the best breakfast sandwich she ever had. I’d take her word for it, the girl works in food. We paired our meals with coffee, my foodie friend going for an oat latte with an extra shot. Myself opting for less of a caffeine fix so I wasn’t buzzing like she was, an oat mocha. Great tasting brew! Quality coffee! As my name might suggest I am a bit of a coffee connoisseur.
Overall a great little gem and treat to the stomach of a walking weekender. What I will say is that I hope to see more vegetarian/pescatarian...
Read moreForks & Green is a brilliant brunch spot in north London! Although we arrived at a slightly-later-than-usual time for brunch (around 3.30pm), we were warmly welcomed and seated very quickly despite not having a reservation. See disclaimer below for kitchen opening times!!! The waitress was friendly, got our orders in quickly and we had 3 delicious dishes, accompanied by nice drinks. The service was great, food came quickly and was fresh and tasty and the overall atmosphere great! Read below to underhand why it’s 4 stars from me.
Disclaimer: Forks & Green serve their brunch menu until 4pm! So last kitchen brunch orders are taken just before 4pm, make sure to arrive on time if you want brunch! From 4pm to 5pm, the Forks & Green changes from a brunch place to an Italian restaurant (which closes at 11pm). During that time (4-5pm window), no food orders are taken, and no take away drinks are served. You can still order cocktails starting 4pm or any other drink item from the menu, and around 5pm you can start ordering food from their Italian cuisine inspired menu.
So why 4 stars? In my opinion this place definitely deserves 5 stars! However, I would say that tables should be cleaner when guests are seated, our table still had crumbs over it. Also, they don’t have any gluten free options in their main menu (only talking about the pizza and pasta here), that starts at 5pm. In terms of brunch, however, they do have gluten free bread which is great! Vegetarian/Vegan (plant-based) options also available :). Hopefully next time we visit they’ll have gluten free pizza and pasta to cater to people who have intolerance/allergy.
Still, service, food, atmosphere are fantastic!!
P.S. they also serve Hackney...
