The service recently has been appalling - - today particularly bad. It is both incredibly slow (with staff preferring to idly walk around wiping down surfaces than serving the large queue of people) but the dark haired woman serving on the till today was also extremely rude. After a long wait I was given the wrong coffee (dairy rather than the coconut milk I had ordered which I only discovered after having some). I raised this with the woman who had taken my order and she dismissively (and fairly angrily) whipped my cup away without a word of apology which was quite shocking as I could have a serious dairy allergy. I eventually got the correct coffee but from the point of queuing to getting the correct drink it took about 25 minutes even though I had been second in line. Additionally the charge for alternative milks is quite high and the cakes small, dry and tasteless so I can’t recommend them. Used to love this cafe while out on dog walks but I won’t...

A kid fell into the stream in the park when it was -3 celsius and was frozen over and was asking the cafe for help, literally paper towels, to use their toilet or for hot water in a cup so he could stay warm but staff ignored him when he could have been in danger of hypothermia/pneumonia. We tried to get him a hot drink and offered to pay for it as we were in the queue at the front already and they then ignored us and weren’t serving for about 5 minutes. We left without ordering as the kid had been offered by one of his friends to come to their house to warm up, as soon as we left the staff served the next person in line immediately.

Staff clearly were refusing service even though we were offering to pay for the kids drink and putting the child in danger. The kid was a person of colour which we believe played into the refusal of service as well.

Teach your staff anti-racism and basic compassion so that this doesn’t happen again....

Extremely bad customer service from the staff. All you get is attitude particularly from the young lad who works there on a friday. I ordered creme brulee latte and cake but informed the staff that i couldnt leave my 2 year old outside in the pram on his own unattended, so therefore told them to bring me the card machine when they were ready as he took his time to take the payment as he was too busy chatting away to his colleague. 15mins later, no coffee or cake came, so i went to check on my order which i was told "you didn't make the order" to which i argued i did.......then i was told "you didnt pay" to which i pointed at my pram and told them i couldnt leave my child unattended on top of a hill for too long as anything could happen. They had contactless card machines available and didnt utilise this. Absolutely poor service. Would never...

This is a lovely cafe with 3 indoor-full of tables as well as outdoor tables. The staffs were both smily and nice. People were queueing keeping distance, one out, one in, without anyone telling. There were happy dogs there, and owners were chatting with other dog lovers. This area around the house is separated from other are by fences and gates. I was wondering why, but I noticed there were small signs saying "No dog in this area". I guess this is a generally ignored rule and I saw no problem with it. From what I am guessing, if anyone tries to follow the rule, they would have to turn these lovely dog owners away, and if one decides not to follow as it was pretty accepted by people who were there, they wouldn't say anything about it. I am just guessing there may be some troubles relating this...

Edit: value has been going down, and prices have been increasing too much here. Until 2021 it was 5 stars, now in 2023 it's 3 stars. +£0.75 for oat milk is among the most expensive I've seen. The best of this café are the views of the park and the beautiful building in which it functions. Coffee is ok, food is just average. Toilets are downstairs, they use the public toilets from the park. Something I don't like at all is that the English breakfast doesn't come with sourdough but with a more simpler bread. It's a full £1 extra to upgrade to sourdough, which I paid, but the bread I received was a rather small loaf and even a bit burnt. Definitely not worth the upgrade. Up to early 2022 (when the café changed menu) this breakfast was sooo much better.
