So, after reading all the hype around this place I had to go and try it. I was really excited to see how good the place was, and also if the mixed reviews were valid or not. Lot's of people talking about the service, or the wait times etc. So here is my impression. Firstly, I went on a Sunday mid-afternoon around 3.30 and the restaurant had 2 tables free. Despite them being for 2 people, and being empty we were asked to wait outside for 10 minutes, which was fine. After 10 minutes they'd forgotten about us, and seated 2 people who just walked in. So we walked in and they sat us at the other table. Bit weird, but still fine, it's easy to forget and be overstretched. So, sat down, got the menus and drinks with a smile and ordered with no problem. Essentially there are 2 pizzas to choose from - with or without cheese and then either normal or double (see the pic for difference in size). I got the large double cheese. It turned up and was pretty huge. Though it wasn't exactly straight out of the oven to the plate, and was a little cool when it arrived - which meant the cheese began to go solid again. However, the pizza was really good. Though it was nothing special in comparison to what is on offer in London now. There are plenty of great pizza joint in and around (especially East London) doing just as good and in all honesty better than here. I would go back again, but would not if i had to wait for a table. I don't like unfair reviews, so am happy to have my mind changed next time, I just think that my expectations were pretty high given the hype, and all in all the experience didn't quite match.

Decided to try L'Antica out after hearing all the hype and seeing the constant queues outside. We walked in at 9pm and immediately got a table with no booking which was lucky as the rest of the restaurant was full. Decided to order a double mozzarella and a glass of wine, and my partner ordered a peroni. We eat pizza weekly and have become pizza connoisseurs over time, so trying this place was crucial. The pizza arrived and the size was impressive, however we quickly noticed a few faults. The sauce was very tangy which is not necessarily a bad thing, but it was also extremely runny - to the point where a watery pool formed in the middle of the pizza. The mozzarella was nice but we both agreed the pizza would be boring without the cheese. Although this place is heralded 'the best pizza in London' I don't think I would visit again although the experience was interesting. The bottom line for me is if I was served this pizza in another restaurant I wouldn't be that impressed or think about it much. The place in Naples can't be compared to this. If you want good pizza and happen to be stuck in the queue for this restaurant, I recommend you hop on the 106 bus and eat at Pizzeria Pappagone in Finsbury Park - it won't let you down and there's a better selection. šŸ•

Best authentic Italian pizza I’ve had in London and NYC. Super fluffy soft dough, simple but delicious few ingredients - super fresh tasting tomato sauce, excellent quality cheeses and toppings. Had the calzone which at first I was underwhelmed as it looked so flat (being more used to the big inflated ones), but starting to eat, every mouthful was amazing - two flavour zones: the flat tomato one and the cheesy speck filled thick outer edge. Only 2 tomato based pizzas, one white based pizza and a calzone on the menu. I was a bit surprised at the lack of choice, but the simplicity is just fine when the pizzas are full of flavour and so delicious. šŸ˜‹ Could have eaten the dough just by itself with garlic butter to be honest or dipped into the yummy tomato sauce! Big glass of Aperol SpritzšŸ¹ and you feel like in Italy! Wood fire oven, good seating inside and garden. Service was average, friendly but not overly attentive. Had to ask for water, pepper and chilli flakes etc. Not asked if we wanted any dessert. Nevermind, the pizza is what you come for. Cheap and cheerful, large and filling, authentic and delicious! Plus dog friendly. 🐶 Will return pronto! šŸ•

I don’t recommend this place! The staff it’s nice but the owner/manager absolutely LACK in professionalism!! This is my experience: On Sunday we decided to try the ā€œfamousā€ Vicoli di Napoli restaurant, because we have a dog we first messaged their facebook page and we received an OK to bring the dog with us,then we’ve been asked how many people we were and at what time we preferred to eat, I replied but then I didn’t received any answer. At lunch time we arrived at the restaurant with 2 friends and I asked the staff if there was a booking for us,but there wasn’t so I kindly told them that someone on their facebook pages asked me for information that looked like a booking but they said that wasn’t a booking, absolutely no problem I wasn’t even expecting one, so we left our phone number and we went to get a beer in a pub nearby. 10/15 minutes later we got the call from the restaurant, our table was ready so we came back and we took a sit,in a matter of minutes I started to receive messages from their facebook page, the same I was in contact with when I asked for my dog ( apparently was the owner who managed that page ). Well I was shocked because this lady started to accuse me saying I had yelled at her staff once they told us there was no booking for us! Absolutely NOT TRUE!! I went straight to the waitress that previously took our contact phone and I showed her the messages I was receiving on my facebook from her boss, she was shocked as I was and she apologised on her behalf saying that she never said that I yelled towards her,she just told the boss (by the phone, the lady wasn’t even at the restaurant, she was home!!) that we were expecting a booking but there was any! Then the waitress also said to ignore the message because her boss was crazy, also the pizza chefs that were there next to me said the same thing! They also suggested me to block her contact in order to don’t get anymore messages. I should have done that,or better I should have leave that place straight away! The owner keep texting me for about 30 minutes while I was eating at HER OWN RESTAURANT and disturbing my lunch with her unfounded accusations while I was trying to explain her that nothing was true and that no one yelled at her staff! The restaurant was full and I had numerous witnesses among the customers as well. Since they had live CCTV I suggested her to have a look at the videos just to realise how wrong she was on everything she was saying to me. Before ignoring her and her message I also said she was gonna get a really bad feedback from us and that we would never come back the her restaurant, her answer?? ā€œI Don’t careā€ ! She also REFUSED to apologise once she realised it was all a big misunderstood from her side (or her staff side, god knows!!) Absolutely the worst experience I ever had in a restaurant. I suggested everyone who wants to have a nice lunch/dinner to...

Not worth the wait nor the price.

Caveat: I am Italian, I have eaten at the original Da Michele in Napoli, I am the president of a Pizza Club and therefore I tried half of the pizzerias in London. Facts: we booked a table for 9 people at 9pm. We called twice to make sure the reservation went through and that we could eat all in one table. They confirmed twice it was allright. We showed up perfectly on time. Still, they sat us down at 10pm, and left us for 1h outside in the cold. Once in, they split us in two tables. One of the two tables was served 15min before us, so other people who were sat at their tables after us. The pizza has tasty ingredients, but it's massively undercooked (see pic) and overpriced (Margherita is £7.90, Marinara is £6.90) considering that there are very basic tastes and the tomato is so little you can almost see the dow at the bottom. It does not look or taste like the pizza napoletana at all, the crust is not soft, the center is not thin, the taste is not quite there. Also, the manager often goes and talks to the customers waiting in line outside and while he does it he leaves the door wide open. So we basically had to eat with coats and scarfs on, despite we kindly asked him twice to please close the door behind him. The service is messy, slow (inexplicable since there are only 2 pizzas on the menu, 5 people working at the oven and 3 waiters for 10 tables). Now, I understand that the first days after the opening any shop needs to find its own pace and system. Still, since the service was clearly upsetting, they could have showed some sign of courtesy (e.g. a free limoncello, a little discount on our bill, or one to come back another time). Yet, they did not seem to care. Simply put they got the chaotic style of Italians with the cold and impersonal English service - a deadly combination for any business! I am sorry not to be able to be. More positive - we really had all the positive expectations one could have, but got utterly disappointed. I guess they might get better with time, but if not they will have a tough time considering the amazing alternatives available in London (Franco Manca, Sartori, Santore', Pizza East, Donna Margherita, event Rossopomodoro, just to name a few)....

Pizza is a very emotional subject for an Italian-Brit, so I'll try to be PC and fair.

Out of the 3 times I have tried to order through Deliveroo from Vicoli di Napoli on a Saturday evening, 1 was successful, 1 was cancelled by the restaurant after a 2.5h wait and the last one last night was cancelled by me through the Deliveroo chat facility, after the restaurant kept pushing back the delivery time as the app said they were trying to find a driver to deliver the order.

Having ordered at 19.09 with an estimated delivery of 20.15-20.45, I phoned the restaurant twice once the estimated delivery time kept being pushed back multiple times.

Given we'd had the previous experience of having to wait 2.5h for the order to be cancelled by them at 10pm, we weren't going to risk that again so we asked Deliveroo to cancel the order and give us a full refund through the chat app, which they did.

The Pizzeria gent that answered the phone was pleasant, but he didn't offer an apology and insisted they wouldn't be cancelling the order - based on previous experience, we didn't believe him.

Hey, I get it - Saturday nights are crazy busy in there and all businesses are trying to recover after the shitstorm of the last two years. I just think that they're not likely to recover with this really poor management of orders.

The pizzas are good but overpriced and don't live up to the hype in my opinion. It would be best if they rejected new customers/orders if they can't fulfil them, rather than taking the orders and then leaving people starving and angry after 2.5h waits. If they said it ahead of time that the wait is likely to be very long, then at least that would manage expectations.

I am not going to give this business my hard-earned money again, but hopefully the management can work on getting better given the number of reviews like this.

Or, if they are Italian, more likely they'll slag off the customers, respond with contempt and just keep delivering poor business practices.

Auguri e...
