My first and last visit there!....that supervisor is too chatty with the customers and hovers around you! I went with a friend for a catch-up with her BUT couldn't get much of a chance to even talk to her, our conversation we're constantly interupted making me lose my chain of thought. He kept going on about how he hasn't seen her or her husband for a ages in there, and that the cafe needs them to come more often to spend their money...blah blah blah...! First table by the door was full of the other 4 other men who seem to also be partners or some how invested in the cafe..they also kept interrupting our conversation talking to my friend. Wow talk about in someone's personal space! Like I get it, she is a customer you are familiar with, jeez it was like being in a preschool setting! Placed my orders, which he took, didn't even let me have a look at what they have to offer or decide so I just said a usual cappuccino and a milkshake for my kid...he rushed around after the two girls working there, repeating / confusing a simple order for them š. Jot it down clearly, take the payment and let the girls make it...simple. I felt stressed being in there! I've worked as a supervisor at a cafĆ© and as a barista, the cakes are not home made, the coffee tastes like your usual...
Read moreI bought a coffee and sat down at a table to do some work. I was only sat down for a short amount of time when the owner came up to me and said that I would need to move to the table bar near the window as I was being inconsiderate to other customers (there was still plenty of space for other people to sit) ?? He then proceeded to tell me that a customer sitting by the window had spent £14 and that he deserved to sit more comfortably because he had spent more than I had??
The owner made me feel singled out and quite awkward especially considering I suffer from anxiety. I thought it was also quite unfair as there was another girl sat at a table doing work like I was and she had also only bought one drink but she wasn't told to move.
Overall, I didn't have a good experience as I was made to feel very uncomfortable and I think that in fact the owner should be more considerate to his customers. I really will not be coming back to this place again. I understand that this is an independent business and that many have struggled due to the pandemic, but I am a student, I shouldn't be made to feel awkward for not spending 'enough', no one should feel like that. There was plenty of space for people to sit if they came in yet I was the only person that was...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUse to come here quite often. The coffee is good. However the owner is quite off putting with comments about how his bank balance always dips when you havenāt come often enough. When sitting in, he doesnāt really leave you alone to enjoy your coffee with friends or on your own. Thereās no harm in attending to your customers but itās enough to make you want to leave. Talks so much that he gets the order wrong. There was also an incident when a elderly gentleman was short of 2pence and was trying to find some extra chance, and understandably was moving at a slower pace, much to the annoyance of the owner who was quite rude and wouldnāt let him off 2pence and also scolded him in in front of everyone for it. Ironically he does offer freebies and discounts to a few favourites, and not even subtle about it. But anyways, thereās a local costa thatās just...
