Mir at Currys Chadwell Heath – A Rare Gem in Customer Service: I recently purchased an AC unit from the Currys website. It worked fine for about a month, then the compressor started making an awful grinding noise. I did what any customer would do, reported it online via the contact centre. Getting through to them was a battle in itself. After numerous follow-up calls and over a week of desperation and frustration, collection was finally arranged. But just when I thought the nightmare was ending, the online/telephone team left me hanging. They mistreated me over the phone, offered no solution, and left me completely in the dark.
By this point, I was ready to lose it. Then I walked into the Currys Chadwell Heath store, and here’s where the story takes a turn. The reception team was welcoming, but it was Mir who turned everything around. In under five minutes, he listened to my situation, understood the mess I’d been through, and calmly initiated a refund without any fuss. That’s it, problem solved.
No pointless back-and-forth, no hiding behind “policy,” no passing the buck. Just someone taking ownership and creating a solution right there on the spot. I’ve been in operations for 15 years, serving customers and handling disputes, and I can tell you this, genuine passion for helping people is rare. In all my years, I’ve only met a handful of people like Mir who truly care about resolving an issue.
Currys, if you’re reading this, give this man a raise. Better yet, make him your escalation head or customer service manager. Because while your online/telephone handling of my case was downright appalling, Mir single-handedly brought my blood pressure down and restored some of my faith in your brand or at least the Chadwell Heath Store.
Kudos to Mir and the reception team at Chadwell Heath, you turned an awful experience into one worth...
Read moreDo not be fooled by the abundant parking spaces available. This is a store in severe decline. It has been neglected over the years.
Terribly unhelpful and rude staff. This store needs to be closed down or a review into practice needs to take place. Items are usually not available and shelves are empty with restocking clearly an issue. Products are outdated and new stock rarely arrives. Store space is utilised poorly, with spaces and gaps throughout which are left empty. As reiterated by other people on here, staff simply stand there and have a chat with colleagues. Total bystanders without any care and poor training. This needs to be reviewed as soon as possible if trading is to continue at this branch. Would not be visiting again. Better off going Romford, Gallows Corner or Beckton Triangle Retail Park, which are all nearby and have better well stocked stores with exceptional customer service. Take note Currys Chadwell Heath.
Only worth the odd click and collect if you live nearby and have no other options. Even then, it is probably best to contact the store to see if the reservation has gone through. In the past, I have turned up to find that a certain product is actually out of stock even though I have reserved it for collection.
The problem with Currys is, you cannot contact any of their stores directly. It will simply ring and ring, without an answer. Then the call goes straight to their head office/customer care department, which makes the experience even worse.
Disappointing....
Read moreI had the worst customer service ever at your Goodmayes branch. I felt like I was getting in the way of the assistant, who when I asked questions about pricing of the Henry Hoover, she without looking up ushered me away. I had to be firm with her and say I just wanted a corded Hoover and not a cordless, which she said was all they have left and I should accept which was more expensive and above the price I wanted to pay.
Giving up I began to walk away to find someone else to serve me, she turned around and said "I can help you!" In condescending manner. when she looked on the display and scanned one of the boxes, she realised that she was wrong on the product and price.
I paid the price advertised and then went to leave the store feeling really annoyed and as I went through the security area, the alarm went off and I quickly approached by a second member of staff whose demeanor seem to be that was attempting to take the Hoover without paying.
At this point I felt like returning the Hoover and taking my money and spending it elsewhere. Quite frankly in future I won't be shopping at Currys as this has left a lasting bad impression on me.
I also work in the service industry and would suggest that you conduct staff customer experience training as massive improvements...
