Overall a great experience that I would have otherwise given a 5 star if it weren't for a few small things.
The restaurant is easy to get to, being only minutes away Goodmayes railway station. There is also sufficient parking nearby and you can also park at Tesco for up to 3 hours if you ask the restaurant.
We made a reservation for a group of 7. Once we arrived, we were seated by the staff. We had to get the attention of the waitress to ask for the menu. There were some miscommunication between the waitresses as when we asked for the menu, the waitress then asked one of the other waitresses, who then asked the original waitress we asked for the menu. After about minute we then got our menus. As the waitress was passing around the menus, they skipped out on one of us getting a menu.
A small nuisance but resolvable since we could just look at a menu between us when sitting next to each other. I do think this could have been avoided if the menu was provided when we arrived/sat down, moreso because a reservation was made.
We had another small issue with one of our orders, however the waitress hastily solved the issue without much fuss. From here on out I would say that the experience was much smoother and went without any problems.
Our meals came with the service that you can expect with any Turkish restaurants where they serve you Turkish flatbread with salad, and dipping sauce, something we jokingly say is dangerous because it's easy to get full from just eating this. The flatbread came out hot and fresh with pillowy texture and chewy in every bite. It was nothing short of delicious. This, along with our meals, were much enjoyed by everyone.
As full as we were, we decided to end our meals with Turkish tea and dessert and ordered Baklava, Kunefe, and Sutlac. The baklava is the baseline turkish dessert and you can't go wrong with baklava. For me, however, the highlight of the day was their kunefe, a Turkish cheese pastry, which might be the best I've had! The pastry came out piping hot, right out the oven. It was crispy with a soft, melted, chewy center, and had the perfect balance of sweetness and savouriness. One of my friends who isn't a fan of cheese mostly because of the taste and texture had no problems with eating kunefe. Kunefe is something not meant to be eaten by a single person and is best shared as it might be too much for a single person. Sutlac, a Turkish rice pudding with cinnamon powder on top, while appetizing, I think the downside was there being a bit too much cinnamon when taking a bite of the rice pudding, however my friends absolutely loved it and would rate it as their number 1 dessert as it was something they would be able to eat more of compared to the Kunefe, which I can agree with. In hindsight, I would suggest mixing the cinnamon powder and the rice pudding before consuming so that you get an even amount of cinnamon per bite.
Our total bill, amounted to roughly £21 per person for food, drinks and dessert and honestly this almost seemed like a steal for the amount of food you're getting and what you're paying for. As we went as a group of 7, service charge wasn't included. Based on our experience that night, we felt it would have been an injustice to not include the service charge after they were able to pick up following the orders made.
If you want something filling and something at the low/medium price point, and at a place that can accommodate many people, I would recommend Eyva. And if you love your desserts, you should at least try their Kunefe and Sutlac.
To further add, I would also suggest making a reservation if you will be going as a group. We made a reservation for 7pm which was quite empty at the time, however as time passed, the restaurant ended up being packed and filled with people waiting in line. With it also being Ramadan might have also affected the restaurant being not as busy when we arrived so I would suggest taking this into consideration when you decide...
Read more"After savouring the culinary offerings at Eyva for over five years, the inclination to share my experiences through a review has often crossed my mind. Regrettably, I haven't taken the opportunity until now. Today, I am pleased to finally articulate a well-deserved review for this establishment." I have been eating from Eyva for over 5 years and thought of leaving a review several times but unfortunately didn’t, so I have decided to finally write a well-deserved review. My recent experience with Eyva Turkish Grill and Meze Bar's takeaway service was nothing short of exceptional. Despite opting for takeaway, the quality and flavours of the food were as remarkable as dining in. The ease of ordering and promptness of service were commendable. The packaging ensured that the food arrived fresh and well-preserved. Each dish retained its original flavours and maintained the same high standard I've come to expect from Eyva. From the aromatic kebabs to the delightful assortment of mezes, every item surpassed expectations. The staff handling the takeaway service ensured that everything was in order before handing over the food. Eyva Turkish Grill and Meze Bar continues to impress not only with its dine-in experience but also with its takeaway service, providing a top-tier culinary experience even outside the restaurant. I highly recommend their takeaway service to anyone craving authentic Turkish cuisine delivered with finesse...
Read moreOverall. Really bad Service in fact it was shocking. would not recommend this for a party of 5 or more. If I didn’t have my family I would’ve given him a piece of my mind. Been here Twice before and with my son his wife and my grandchildren. The service and food were on point. This time I pre booked for my grandsons first and invited 3 other family members and was put in the back next to the toilet and a half asleep waitress slouched over the table. We asked to be moved and they obliged. We ordered 2 large plattters (£64) which had starters. We only just got starters and the owner/manager came over and started to move things around and kept saying that we should make space and pour the starters on our plates???!! When he was asked why? he said he’s bringing the mains and I said that we hadn’t finished with our starters yet and if he could hang on till we finished he said that it’s how they do this mains come out literally 5 mins into our starters. I then spoke to him quietly away from my family and said that I was there with my family and we’re going to take our time and that he was rushing us. As there was no space on the table I asked if we could be moved. He said yes and walked off. He was expecting us to move all the food n drinks to another table???!!! I paid £206 for 2 platters(£64 each) and around 10-12 cans of coke and 3 apple juices.??? Plus I tipped £5. Extortionate to say...
