Club 2000 — Restaurant in London

I dined here two Sundays ago with my family. It's difficult to find parking near the restaurant but you may have some luck on the side streets or on the other side of Rayners Lane. The restaurant was fairly empty and we were seated promptly. The starters were strictly ok - average mixed grill, lilva kachori and "famous" bateta vada. The bateta vada were disappointing - the lemon overpowered all the other flavours in this dish.

We ordered our main courses shortly after - undhiyu, tuvar spinach kadhi and a chicken curry with some rotis. We received the vegetarian dishes which were shared amongst 3 of us. The chicken curry did not arrive at the table alongside the other main courses. When we reminded the waiter, he said it was on its way.

We waited over half an hour for the chicken curry after which time another waitress came by and my dad advised her my brother was still waiting for his main course. We told her we would wait only another 5 minutes for this dish - if it wasn't ready, to leave it as there seemed to be no hope of a simple dish materialising from this kitchen. By this time, 3 of us had finished eating our mains and my brother was still waiting for the chicken curry and the roti in his plate had gotten cold.

Just after the 5 minutes was up, she brought out the chicken curry and another roti which we had to ask for as the original roti was cold. At this point, my brother just didn't want to eat the curry as we had all finished our meals and the waitress packed both items for us.

My dad subsequently went to the front counter to pay the bill and speak to the man arranging the bill about what had happened. We received no apology and all the staff involved looked gormless. We ended up paying for the chicken curry and roti despite the fiasco - there was no offer to take this off the bill as any decent establishment or manager would. We've been going to this restaurant for years and have always enjoyed the food, however we had such a bad experience the last time I went, there is no way I would go back again. Food was extremely spicy, and I'm used to eating spicy food. You couldn't even taste anything after the first few bites because all of our mouths were on fire. We were all pretty hungry so we ate the food. When asked how the food was, I said it was really spicy today, all I got my excuse after excuse from our waiter. 'No ma'am, this is how or food always is.' I can definitely say no it's not, but he was rude and insistent that I was wrong and proceed to argue with me. When I asked for the manger he informed he was the manger. Why even bother to ask us at all how the food was if they don't want to hear feedback. All we wanted was for the waiter to acknowledge our complaint and apologize. Embarrassing behavior by the staff and the owners should be ashamed. Not only has it lost my custom, but also all my family members who live locally as well. We've always thought the staff were a bit rude and inexperienced, but this was next level. They are so many other places you can go to which are still local to the area, who care about their customers so don't even bother...

Visited for a family meal, took 2hrs from starters to mains being served. One waiter even bought our bill over between this time but had to remind him we were still waiting for our mains. He thought we had finished our mains, most places after 2hrs that is the case isnt it! Not here. Complained and was told we were gonna be given complimentary cheesecake. After dinner 3 hrs later they gave one cheesecake between the 9 of us! Turned up at the end with the full bill, even the cheese naan we returned due to the awful smell it was giving off was still on there. Asked them to adjust the bill given our experience they said we will knock of the paans. Seriously, lousy paans for the terrible 3 hr experience. The whole meal should bave been comped quite frankly. And they took back the offer of free dessert! Had to call for the waiter so many times throughout the evening as no one was coming over to ask if we needed more drinks or anything else during the 3 hr waiting game.
