I visited this restaurant for lunch with my family, I have been here a number of times and usually just as it is opening for lunch. It slowly becomes busier during service and by the time I leave it is a third full. The restaurant front is a little dated and needs updating but nothing major, it is in a small parade of shops across the road from Wickes.

You can park on the side road or the Wicked car park but for a limited time. The restaurant is large with plenty of seating and enough space so you don’t feel closed in.

The food is Indian cuisine and mainly in the Punjabi style, the fish pakoras and delicious by the way! Portions are large and food is usually very tasty, on one occasion the food didn’t taste as good as previous visits which I assume was because there was a different cook covering service.

The food overall is lovely but the price could be a couple of pounds less in my opinion. I often end up having to take home half my meal lol, the lamb jalfrezi is excellent and very very spicy, naans, paratha, biryani’s and saag are some of my favourites.

The toilets are clean but not big, there is a disabled toilet for anyone wondering. The service is good and friendly but sometimes i feel that they could use one more member of staff to take the pressure off.

Overall I would recommend Desi Tadka and as I said I have visited it on numerous occasions. I hope you found this review helpful and if so please hit the like button and follow me for my other reviews.

First time I have visited this restaurant as we came from a distance, the starters took over an hour and I normally do not like to complain as I know it was busy and short on staff but I had to ask what was going on. Then someone else came over and said we do not have a dish we ordered even though it was not part of a starter but a main course even on their own menu it is a main course. He then replied we are bringing the starters and main course all together and that is not what we wanted as we wanted a gap between starters and main like any other restaurant would do. Starter then came to find hair in one of the dishes. I had to get up and complain about this and said cancel the food we will pay for the drinks and go they did apologise and said we will make that starter quickly please do not go. We was still there at 11pm at night and both my mum and dad was very tired and should of been in bed. The restaurant was busy with young groups of boys. One group of boys came after us with around 8-9 boys and we was 3. They managed to get their starters and main course half hour before us. As our appetite had gone we had to pack the food. the hygiene is bad, tissue piece in the glass so had to get a new glass, staff rubbing on their beard then touching salad straight away to serve, I had to then throw the food away we got packed due to what we saw leaving the restaurant. At the end I thought they would of been nice enough to give a discount but took only £3 off. I would not recommend this...

I have had experience before as well but that time I spent few mins in the restaurant just to talk to my friend who was eating there ..because there was huge traffic towards Broadway so made my way to this restaurant ..me ,my friend and our wives with kids too .... Tooo congested we couldn't pull our chairs back to get into it .. 2.order delayed they brought items one by one we had to ask for food again amd again starter came in 3 installments... Food is lower than average ....

Serving staff not professional give you very pathetic. Look as they are working unwillingly .. 5.tables greasy ..

Now the most important thing is they allow people to come and bring your own alcohol amd drink in, which is worst thing if you are decent person and with family you will feel so unsafe , disturbed. Punjabi as they get crazy after 2 shots they make annoying noise , they abuse , they look at females like in cheap way ...you can expect fight anytime ...I will say if u don't drink like a stupid , if you respect your family ,if you are a gentleman then this place is not for you ..... I am punjabi myself but our guyz make you feel embarrassed there..... This is a place for alcoholic ...

This authentic Punjabi restaurant serves excellent cuisines with a great variety of choices on the menu. The food was served promptly and portion sizes were excellent. The food was freshly prepared and had great flavour. You have the option for spicy or mild for most if not all of the items. There is great choice for vegetarian food although the desserts menu could be expanded in comparison to other Punjabi restaurants. The staff were attentive and there is a homely atmosphere. I wouldn't recommend visiting with young children after 9pm as some of common customers tend to use inappropriate language at times. There is no on site parking and the local streets have restricted parking zones. However, there is parking within a few minutes of the restaurant. As a tip, ask for butter to accompany all your dishes, adds more flavour.

Very bad resturent. They refuse to provide tap drinking water which is by law they should provide. Instead of that they sell water bottle which cost 3.50 pounds . When i asked bill the manager /owner just wrote on piece of paper. Picture attached. It was saying on cash counter that card machine not working and when i said i did not have cash then suddenly maxhine started working. They refuse to provide proper reciepts with vat to customers and it is all seems to be tax fraud. The chappati provided was burned and he did not bother to care and issue appolgy. I wont recommend to go there and it also should be investiageted why they refuse to provide drinking water in resturent and loot customers by selling water bottel of more than 3 pounds.
