The accomodation was clean, comfortable and in a good position to the local amenities; tube stations etc. The price of my stay was £120 for a double room on a Tuesday night which I considered competitive against other hotels in the immediate area.
The following morning I thought I'd treat myself to breakfast at the hotel which was a self service buffet. The produce; eggs, bacon, sausage had, in my humble opinion, been resting in heat retaining containers for too long with the aforementioned food items drying up as a result. Halfway through my breakfast plate I raised my concerns/objections with a female member of staff who appeared to be working in the dining area. Her suggestion was that she would clear my plate from the table and I could start afresh with a new selection of items. Being somewhat put off by my initial experience I was reluctant to accept this offer and kindly requested I not be billed for the breakfast upon check out. The member of staff explained she did not have the authority to action such a request and that I should raise the matter with the reception team when departing. (Fair enough).
At the reception desk I explained the above points to Bianca who was on duty and politely requested that I not be billed for breakfast. The curt response I received from Bianca came as an abrupt shock. Bianca explained that she would indeed be charging me for breakfast as I had consumed the majority of food on my plate before raising an issue. To cut a potentially long story short I calmly tried to reiterate my above feedback to which she claimed my points were "ridiculous" in nature to such an extent where I felt she was being rude, unprofessional and outright dismissive of my opinion. I had specifically requested that Bianca not charge the credit card stored on their file for my stay for breakfast. However Bianca insisted she was going to bill me despite the fact I stated charging me without my permission is potentially fraudulent. Another point which Bianca stated was "ridiculous". I have since escalated this event to an official complaint and full investigation which is still pending an outcome and satisfactory resolution namely; not billing me £10 for breakfast.
Due to the nature of my employment I stay at Best Westerns throughout the country on a regular basis. Although what serves as my first ever complaint with this chain of hotels I felt the matter could have benefitted from more efficient customer service on behalf of Bianca at the front desk. Although this isolated incident did not serve to detract from the purpose of my visit. I will now consider booking future stays with the hotel's competitors such as Premier Inn...
Read moreAVOID!!!! Breakfast was worse than awful. Supposedly hot food was cool, bakery (croissants) were stale and had a bizarre sweet taste. Cheese was curled and darker at the edge!!! Scrambled eggs were a very odd flavour, assume made from a powder mixture. Left it all, such a waste. Even my partner who eats most things couldnt eat. Crockery and cutlery dirty. No tables cleared, although plenty available. Asked for a plate (since only saucers and bowls available) from the "private staff" kitchen (which was just a mess). Had one almost thrown at me, I assume grumpy as I had interrupted her time on her mobile phone.....which explains the very low standards of breakfast. Absolutely NOT worth it! However, if you don't risk breakfast there are good points! Location ideal for Arsenal Emirates Stadium (why we booked, for a concert). Tube stations (Finsbury and Manor House) approx 8 min flat walk. 30 to 45 mins on tube from central London if that matters to you. The reception staff (met 3) were really great. Friendly, courteous, helpful and efficient. The room was fresh and clean, as were towels and bedding. Some noise from road (it's a busy road by Finsbury Park so expected) and other guests returning/closing doors etc but earplugs supplied which is a nice touch and didnt bother us. Towels small but for 1 night no issues. TV, tea, coffee, biscuits, air con (not convinced it was fully operational), hangers, desk, chair and a safe in room. Bathroom shower was brilliant, such good pressure, could have stayed in there all day!! If I was to stay again it would only be for location, if nothing else were available. I would eat elsewhere, like the gutter. I do not recommend whatsoever just due to breakfast. Shame that 1 department/person lets the others down! I appreciate #bestwestern @bestwestern don't have a great reputation so my my expectations were low. Dont be fooled by the cleverly angled/edited photos!!! Breakfast was WAY BELOW my low expectations. Room and reception staff were WAY above my...
