My overall rating : 3.5 (TLDR) I want to give this place a 4, but my overall experience I think made me give this place a 3.5! We have been to East West London on 2nd of March around 5.15 PM. I had a prior booking for 5.30 for 4 and I reached there with my husband and friends. The restaurant was empty by then and we were asked to occupy the one in the middle. We requested for a corner table as the entire upstairs seating was empty. We were told to wait for a minute or 2 before we occupied the place as the person had to confirm with her manager. Then, we proceeded to sit and were given the menus to decide on our order. The service time was okayish but we were initially given plates that were chipped off and had to get them exchanged for better ones!
We then proceeded to order two starters and two pizzas! Overall food rating: 4/5 Paneer Tikka: 3/5 - I understand the concept of the restaurant, and liked how the dish was presented. However, the taste of this particular dish was okay and my main concern with the starter was the quantity. Just 3 small tikkas that had to be divided among 4!!
My problem with this is it would have been helpful if someone would have pointed out to us about the quantity of this particular starter as they could clearly see we were 4! It would have helped to point this out to us and we would have ordered an extra plate or something!!
Crispy corn chat: 4/5 - This dish was really good!!! Yum!!!!! No complaints on the taste whatsoever! However, the portion size was a tiny bit of concern. It was just a tad bit less!
I really wish they could increase the portion sizes of the starters.
Main course: We ordered 2 pizzas and the pizzas were of the right size! No complaints on portion sizes etc.
Chilli Paneer Pizza: 5/5 - The spice, the flavours, and the taste, chef’s kiss!! This dish was the best of all and it is a must-try!!!
Epic Veg: 3.5/5 - This pizza was good, however, unfortunately after devouring chilli paneer pizza this fell short in flavour. Unfortunately, it is nobody’s fault!!
I think the best pizzas to be had here for Indian palette are the Indian fusion pizzas. They will truly not disappoint! Unfortunately we couldn’t get any desserts as we had a lot of them throughout the day spent in London!
And the service kind of became better after the starters were served! Shoutout to the south-Indian girl from Chennai (couldn’t catch her name unfortunately!) who tended to us and passed on chilli oils, chilli flakes and olive oil, everything she could get to enhance our pizza experience. The owner of the restaurant also came upstairs in between and greeted all of us with a smile. These experiences made the overall visit welcoming!! We had come all the way from Basingstoke (Hampshire) to enjoy our day out in London and especially to get to East West for their fusion pizzas!! I’d definitely come back for the chilli paneer pizza alone!! It...
Read moreMy family and I came here for dinner on New Year's eve. A friend had recommended the pizza so we've been waiting for an opportunity to eat here. I had a look at the reviews prior to arriving to order recommendations. We went vegetarian so here's my take on a few dishes Spinach and paneer aranchini. 5/5. For uniqueness, portion size and taste Masala chips: 4/5. Not your typical masala chips as some masala powder is sprinkled on it rather than the saucy version I was expecting. Bonus to eat with Jalapeño dip and aioli dip Pomegranate coleslaw: 5/5 for creaminess and freshness from the pomegranate seeds Crispy corn 5/5. Tastes much fresher than the crispy corn in 2 of my other favourite restaurants in north london! Nimbupani: 5/5 for homemade lemon water. A nice balance of sweetness which can sometimes be overdone. Extra points for the fresh mint leaves and lime slices in the drink Paneer makhani pizza and spicy masala margherita pizza. 4/5. Scored for uniqueness but I feel the paneer could have been more flavourful. The sauces needed more flavour too. I like thinks spicier. The sauces also tasted quite similar. I knocked a score off for these. I didn't like the dough as much but that was my fault as I ordered gluten free to cater a gluten intolerant party on the table. In hindsight, I should have ordered one of the pizzas with regular dough. The service itself was a bit slow but the place was somewhat busy with just 2 staff waiting tables. We did also book last minute, a couple of hours. The slow service could have resulted in our pizzas being cold. We contemplated asking the staff to heat them up but we decided to leave it. After my husband paid, the staff asked how the meal went. He highlighted the cold pizza. The staff's response is what has boosted the rating on my review. They apologised and said they would have made a fresh one if we highlighted at the time. They could have also taken out the service charge. But as we had paid, the staff member told us they will pack us 2 cans of the beers we ordered and nimbupani we liked. This level of customer service is so basic and makes a massive difference but so many people fail at it. So thank you and keep it up :) I will be back for the aranchini, crispy corn and...
Read moreHave come here twice now; once with a friend during a music festival last year during the evening, and once with my mother one afternoon, both on a Saturday. Both times, we sat upstairs next to the railing and window. It's a modern, cosy and rather sleek place; and at those seats there's a nice view and some nice light from the window. Both times, the servers were very friendly and attentive; they made us feel welcome. The wait times for food and drink are totally reasonable, especially on the second occasion where a relatively busy restaurant on a Saturday afternoon had just 2 front of house staff. I believe the owner came up to meet us on this occasion; my mum reckons he was surprised to see two other Asians in there, lol.
The food is all around great. The first time, I had their CTM pizza; it burst with flavour and was delicious all around. It's filling but not heavy, presumably on account of quality ingredients and a thin base. My friend had the saag paneer tagliatelle which is very nice, though a bit rich (it's a very filling portion as they use a lot of the sauce, my friend could not quite finish it.) We both washed it down with their homemade lemonade - which both my Turkish friend and myself (I'm Bangladeshi) agreed is very much like homemade sharbat, if a bit less sweet and more refreshing I'd argue - a very good complement to the food. The second time, my mum and I both had that same lemonade (it got the desi mum seal of approval!) and she had the same saag paneer pasta; she had similar comments on it and could not finish it. I had the lamb pappardelle and my goodness, it's amazing. It genuinely explodes with flavour, the lamb was cooked perfectly, and it's actually lighter than the paneer pasta believe it or not. We also had starters this time around; she had the garlic prawns which are absolutely delicious. I had the lamb chops which were also very nice (and presented beautifully; in general the food is presented well) though you will want to ask for a sharper steak knife to cut them as a butter knife will not suffice.
Excellent stuff. Should you happen to be in the area be it for a concert or any other reason, I recommend it highly. Prices are reasonable given the quality of the food, the portions and the...
