I was introduced to Eat Tokyo by a friend,( can not really remember exactly who) but since I became a big fan of this particular Japanese Eatery.
The queue will start before their open for business at around 12noon, which quite understandable. One thing I do not like about most popular restaurant in the area, which has absolutely nothing to do with the place, or in this case EAT TOKYO. People often try very hard if they could jump the queue. I do not understand, and it is in my opinion, unacceptable.
Anyway, this review is about EatTokyo, and no one else. As the restaurant is always busy, the staff are quite good, compared to the volume of their customer.
The staff always greet in Japanese, and good bye in Japanese, which build a good ambien around the experience. Now the foods, I have not had a bad direct experience yet, well, saying that, I think their Chicken Teriyaki could sometime on the dry and rubbery side, which I had an opportunity to try once on my last visit, as my friend asked me to give her my opinions on the chicken, so, I did and that was what happened above.
My personal recommendation is the Mussels. Wine and Butter flavour is my new BLACK, it was that good and quite a generous portion for a starter (enough for 2), otherwise, it could easily be a main course.
Sushi is also great. I can taste the actual Japanese's flavours and their philosophy in every mouth full. If sushi is not the preference, there are more to choose for. The menu is full of pictures, and I prefer to read the pictures than the descriptions, which sometime make you wonder what those items are.
Prepare for a larger than normal restaurant size of most dishes. I can easily visit when I could eat a horse, but can not finish Eat Tokyo main course. They are very generous with their portion size.
Give this place a try. there are also many other branches around London, do not ask me, I could easily give out wrong information, but do check their website for more accurate information.
So, thank you very much EAT TOKYO, i personally love the food and the staff are great.

I have been enjoying my experience at Eat Tokyo SoHo, Old Crumpton, London for a very long time. This afternoon is my first opportunity to finally say hello a senior staff who has been looking after me at this particular branch, for as long as I remember, his name is KIM.
FOOD and SERVICE at this Eat Tokyo, SOHO is way much better than Covent Garden and Hammersmith combined!
The staff are much more attentive, and seeing KIM at the branch can guarantee two things, 1st the queue will run at the most reasonable time; I was made to wait 30+ minutes at Covent Garden during less busy hours and the restaurant was semi emptied at the time of visit.
Therefore, best Eat Tokyo in my opinion among the three mentioned above is SoHo. Foods are good, consistent, with friendly service, please keep up this standard,
And thank you for looking after me for almost...

I found this place after checking Google reviews, so I poked my head inside and it looked somewhat busy; thought I would give it a try. Naturally I am quite a fan of Japanese food due to their focus on quality and general culinary expertise, however I found neither here. keep reading...
As we got seated, I immediately noticed that the tables had been poorly cleaned, and the menus were incredibly sticky from all of the grime build up; with most pages being stuck together, which instantly put me on high alert. Before I go on further, I must state that I try not to judge places for small issues as I genuinely love exploring different places, and I sincerely don’t expect everything to be perfect, however hygiene is something I find especially difficult to overlook… but in the interest of not making a fuss and remaining open-minded, I let it slide and moved on. That being said... a minute later, after ordering food, our plates were brought out to us and I noticed a small hair sitting in one... this was hygiene strike 2.
Shortly after, our food was brought out to us together, as requested. I had ordered Chicken Katsu, which basically turned out to be the worst parts of a chicken – no breast meat in sight. The same went for the Teriyaki Chicken which was anything but meat… loads of red and strange wobbly bits, as if I had ordered street food. By the time we got around to trying everything else, we were too stressed to eat anything besides the “California Tempura Rolls” as we were genuinely questioning what it was that we were actually eating. All in all, the food was not to our taste, and the quality of meat and fish food was genuinely poor. There's no point going into any real detail about the other items we ordered, as I (respectfully) have nothing good to say.
The prices were bad, but would not have been too awful if we had actually touched any of our food. The ambience was decent as the place was busy with tourists, and the staff were dressed in a fashion that was consistent with the restaurants theme.
Strike 3 came in the form of poor hygiene in the rest-rooms; see photos.
I remember being intrigued by this place, after having walked past it countless times before, however after having tried it – I can guarantee that I won’t be back. I've given this place 2 stars for the location, theme and most importantly, the respectful...
Read moreEat Tokyo is usually a go to place for Japanese cuisine in London. This was my first time visiting their Soho branch and my experience was alright. As usual I started with their sushis along with Sake. The sushis are definitely value for money with nothing too exceptional to offer but not bad either. We had an avocado roll and a prawn sushi. They really have fresh wasabi to offer! We even had soft shell crab tempura which was highlight of the meal. Would highly recommend to try it if you are a fan of tempura. We even ordered a fried chicken Bento Box but the chicken was alright (not really juicy). You do get a complimentary miso soup along with bento but the bento box was not that great compared to the Covent Garden branch. They don't serve any wasabi and ginger along with their bento so we asked for more only to realize that they charge for wasabi. But we explained how we get it at their Covent garden branch, the staff was genuinely kind enough to get some wasabi for us and told us how things work a bit differently at every branch. We had also ordered a chicken+egg+rice dish which unfortunately stinked and it was unbearable so we decided to not eat it. Again the staff was kind enough to take it back and we order another fried chicken Bento box. The staff here is really kind and helpful and make you feel really comfortable. The food was not that appealing when you know that eat Tokyo offers better in other branches. The ambience is a typical basic restaurant and gets the purpose fulfilled but nothing fascinating or exciting about it. But Eat Tokyo is always not too heavy on your wallet so I would still recommend the place for their great...
