The staff were very helpful and very friendly and provided us with amenities when we asked for them. The room doesn't come with a teeth care kit (brush, paste etc.) But when asked, they provided us with them and an extra pillow also.
I ordered a king room, but was bumped up to a deluxe room due to it being my wife's and I anniversary which was a nice touch by them. I didn't expect it and it was a very nice gesture. Upon my request when I made the booking, they decorated the bed with swan towels and fake flower petals for our anniversary and provided a bottle of wine.
The room was clean and tidy, nothing to complain about at all in that respect. We had a BRITA water filter in the tap for fresh water, a small fridge with just carton milks and a tea/coffee station and a kettle. Again, very clean, nothing to complain about. The decor was also very nice and classy.
The room also came with a safe and a hairdryer with a good amount of plug sockets. Two large mirrors on the back of the doors of the closet which was spacious.
The bathroom was one of the nicest I've seen. Super clean and looked stunning and everything worked great.
The hotel made me feel safe in having a card scanner in the elevator where you need a valid room key to even go up or down. It's a very nice touch and should become mandatory in all hotels.
Now for things I felt they could improve on/add which would give them 5 stars from me:
The room lacked an instruction booklet or manual or welcome package which would have helped a lot with the below points I'm going to make.
There are a lot of light switches around the room, like a lot. And I have no idea still what any of them do/control. The lights themselves weren't very bright and getting dressed in the evening was a bit of a pain as the 3 spotlights where the closet was weren't bright at all.
The bed was huge, however, not very comfortable. The mattress sunk in many places like a sand dune and was quite hard to sleep on. The pillows also were flat and hard that I had to ask for more so I could double stack.
No instructions for the aircon which would have been helpful as it was cold at times and I had to sit there and play with the controls until I got it right.
The TV entertainment system was very very dated and offered little options. It had basic Freeview channels, however, no programme information so I turned on ITV and had no idea what was on... Very annoying. No movie channels or the ability to use Netflix or anything like that, again having experienced other hotels which had these functions, this disappointed me a little.
The phone next to the bed has a small screen that during the night kept me awake due to the brightness of it. Had to cover it with my own phone. Would be nice if the light turned off...
Read moreWonderful hotel in the heart of Soho close to everything. Having stayed in all the 4 and 5 star hotels in the area the service, attention to detail, and friendliness of staff is by far the best experienced.
So often in London you book a hotel and its tired, the service is shocking, and its overpriced. This is a great value hotel.
The Resident Soho provides exactly what it says it does - comfortable rooms at good value price points (for London) and service which is so friendly and helpful that you have to double check you are actually in a London hotel.
Rooms are well maintained, clearly regularly checked for maintenance, and as per other reviews on the rare occassion something goes wrong the staff here resolve it quickly - something that is once again rare in London.
As a previous regular guest of places like the Ritz, Piccadilly, Hilton Walforf, Cafe Royal, Soho Hotel, Firmdale Hotels, it may seem strange that the Resident Soho is now my hotel of choice in London - but this is the hotel only where I find you get exactly what is offered with no issues, wonderful service, clean & comfy rooms, in a great spot.
I hope management share my review with the team as from Pablo on reception, to the maintenance crew, to the friendly smiling cleaners you encounter in the hallways this is by far the friendliest and most reliable service I've had in London.
A special shout out to the housekeeping team - again, never seen such spotlessly clean and well maintained rooms. There are hotels at a much higher level which deliver far inferior cleanliness to you.
I have just one suggestion - a soft/accent/arm chair in the Superior Rooms would be a nice addition I think.
For guests be aware there are various room types of different sizes (some quite small and cost effective). However, they are super clear on their website about what sizes the rooms are with clear photos - again, unlike other hotels in London they are honest. If space is important to you, choose a Superior or above.
Thank you for another great stay, and I hope to...
