⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ A Must-Visit Theatre in the Heart of London – The Cambridge Theatre Delivers Excellence!
I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Cambridge Theatre in London’s vibrant West End, and I can confidently say it was an unforgettable experience! From the stunning Art Deco design to the world-class performances, everything about this venue exudes charm and professionalism.
📍 Location & Accessibility Nestled perfectly in the heart of Covent Garden, the Cambridge Theatre is incredibly easy to find. Its central location makes it a breeze to reach via public transport (nearest tube stations: Covent Garden and Leicester Square). There are also plenty of restaurants, bars, and shops nearby, making it ideal for a full evening out.
🏛️ The Venue – Stunning & Intimate The theatre itself is a beautifully preserved Art Deco gem, with a stylish interior that feels both grand and cozy. Despite its historic charm, the seating is comfortable, and the sightlines from most sections are excellent. Even if you’re seated toward the back, the acoustics are fantastic—every word and note comes through crystal clear.
🎭 The Shows – Unforgettable Performances I had the chance to watch "Matilda the Musical" during my visit, and it was pure magic! The cast was phenomenal, delivering powerhouse vocals, incredible choreography, and heartwarming storytelling. The production values were top-notch, with creative staging and dazzling effects that kept me engaged from start to finish.
👩💼 Staff & Service – Friendly & Efficient The staff at the Cambridge Theatre were exceptionally welcoming and helpful. From the ushers who guided us to our seats to the bar and merchandise staff, everyone was courteous and efficient. The theatre was also clean and well-maintained, adding to the overall positive experience.
💰 Pricing & Value Ticket prices vary depending on the show and seating, but I found them reasonable for the quality of entertainment offered. There are options for different budgets, and the experience is worth every penny.
Final Verdict: A West End Treasure! Whether you're a theatre enthusiast or just looking for a fantastic night out, the Cambridge Theatre is a must-visit. With its gorgeous architecture, stellar productions, and unbeatable location, it’s no wonder this venue remains one of London’s top theatrical destinations.
Highly recommended—I can’t wait to return for another show!...
Read moreI visited this theatre a few weeks ago to watch ‘Showstopper The Musical’; an improvised musical theatre show, which was truly fantastic and the cast were all incredible. I’d also like to note the team at the basement bar on this particular day were amazing too: very friendly and courteous, smiling, saying ‘hello’, ‘please’ and ‘thank you’ and provided exactly the service you’d expect.
Unfortunately the experience was clouded by very poor queue management at the small corridor bar, a rude and unfriendly bartender, and his manager Alanna who seemed to care more about defending her team members and protesting their innocence than listening to paying customers, resolving their issues and ensuring they have a great experience and want to return.
Alanna was incredibly condescending and confrontational, certainly not the best way to resolve and de-escalate already upset customers, and definitely needs to work on her people skills in my opinion. I am a bartender myself - a lot of bars are busy, it doesn’t excuse rude and abrupt service; if you don’t want to work with people, find a back of house job or just don’t work in hospitality at all.
After speaking with Alanna regarding another staff members’ poor attitude, to which she was dismissive and uninterested, she then approached me whilst I was relaying the conversation to my friend who was the victim of his inhospitality, to tell me I wasn’t allowed to talk about it and if I continued I would be asked to leave. I’m not sure why she was listening or what business of hers it is what I say to my friends, but as a paying customer who was not only not being abusive but was also not even speaking to her, I didn’t appreciate the threat of being ‘removed’ merely for trying to express my dissatisfaction at the bartender’s poor attitude.
I’m not sure if she had a more personal than professional relationship with the team member involved, or if she is just more interested in fiercely defending her team rather than hearing and resolving her paying customer’s concerns, but either way it was by far the worst experience I’ve encountered at any theatre, West End or otherwise. I love Theatre, it is one of my favourite hobbies, but I would absolutely not return to the Cambridge Theatre whilst the current guest manager is in place. Let’s just hope she was...
Read moreHave been wanting to see this musical for a while but tickets can be quite pricey and hard to find affordable tickets with a decent view. I managed to get a special offer ticket for £25 on Ticketmaster's website in the Upper Circle. I knew it would be high up but didn't know what the view would be like.
I came for my visit to the theatre on Fri 30th Sept 22 and had a wonderful time. The show was amazing. The staging as you come in is very well put together. The little girl who played Matilda nailed the role and was wise beyond her years, she was given a standing ovation. The lady who played Miss Trunchbull really embodied the role and brought her to life. I thought she played Miss Trunchbull very well, just like the movie.
I was sat in the Upper Circle - Row E - Seat 29. High up but you can see everything. You can see the children/cast faces very clearly. Nothing is obstructed. The only thing you don't see is when they come off the stage to walk through the audience in the stalls but you aren't missing much.
Most people well behaved and quiet but girl next to me with her Mum kept talking which can be annoying and distracting. They did move to some other seats which was good. I know children will talk/fidget but it is distracting if you have paid good money to watch a show and they can't handle watching a 2 hr + show including interval.
The toilets are clean. Only gripe is the hand dryers are not very strong for drying so should be replaced. Aside from that nice, theatre, very big and open plan, feels airy. Would definitely recommend coming to see the show and these seats are good.
After "F" row is the landing then higher up, you might not be able to see so well so make sure you check out seats on google and look for a seat planner before choosing seats so you are happy with what you order.
The Cambridge Theatre is easy to find, if you are coming from Tottenham Crt Rd side, just walk straight down Charing Cross Road, when you see the Mc Donalds, walk across the road and to the left, you will see a side street called Earlham St and its literally 2 min walk which brings you to the middle of Seven Dials, where you will find...
