We must have been to Emy’s kitchen at least 15 times over the past 2 years. We spend well and always acknowledge the food with what we pay as discretionary service. The owner lady who manages the tiny kitchen is lovely. The attitude of who I assume is her son has been that of a host who has become rude and arrogant with success though. We had booked our table outside under the tent and made a note on the booking page. The answer was we don’t read any notes, which is fine but when I suggested they don’t put a note box in so that we know to call if there are any special requests was greeted by an annoyed stare by the host. No issues, we sat at our table. Every single time we go to this restaurant we ask that they don’t include three dishes in one of the set menus and instead swap only one. So they save on 3 dishes they don’t include and replace one only. On every single occasion we have been there, this has not been an issue. When the waiter said it wouldn’t be possible, we said this was always possible and asked if he could check with the kitchen. The host came to the table in a really annoyed state and said he had done a favour to us in the past and that it wouldn’t be possible. We do not have an issue with the content, but the attitude was horrific. When I said they were saving by bringing less dishes and that we were paying full price anyway, he pulled the menus from our hands and walked away. I went to where he was standing and expressed how upset I was as we were regular paying customers and to call it a favour and pull the menus off our hands and walk away was rude, he turned around and walked away again. The restaurant was half full, much less busy than usual. It is difficult to put in writing how horrific his attitude, words and body language were, which was very triggering. It appears that success has gone to his head, even with customers like us who travel an hour for breakfast to the venue and then an hour back just for the menu to be pulled from our hands, be told with an arrogant attitude that he was doing us a favour despite the fact that we pay full price and make sure we pay at least 20% for the service. I am same age as his lovely mother who manages the kitchen and nobody, forget about the proprietor of a venue, should be this rude to a customer. I wish the kitchen staff all the best and hope their host’s arrogance, rudeness and entitled behaviour doesn’t cost them further business. I repeat that it was not the content of the discussion, but the host’s behaviour, words and actions that were upsetting for us. We simply would have paid extra if that was his issue and if he had...
Read moreWe had made a reservation for Mother’s Day breakfast, but when we arrived, there were plenty of empty tables. Despite this, they asked me to place my baby’s stroller right in front of the restroom and did not offer any alternative seating. When we inquired about the empty tables, they made strange excuses like saying they needed to combine them. The staff were extremely rude and disrespectful. We left the place without even having breakfast, and they didn’t even bother to apologize. I would never recommend this place. There are things far more important than taste — like respect and customer satisfaction.
Update In response to the owner’s reply:
You are distorting the facts and continuing with a rude tone instead of apologizing. We were two people with a stroller.
The first table you offered us was right in front of the toilet door, and you suggested placing the stroller and our baby in the space directly in front of the toilet. This was neither hygienic nor safe, and it would have caused a serious problem for anyone needing to use the restroom. The second option you offered was even worse — you proposed a table right next to the tea station, surrounded by boiling kettles and hot water. You also suggested placing our baby and stroller right at the entrance to the tea station. Of course, I refused, as this was highly unsafe from a health and safety perspective.
You have a small space, but you could have found a more reasonable and health-conscious solution — there was indeed an empty table elsewhere that would have been perfectly suitable for us and the stroller. However, you insisted that we could not sit there without providing a logical explanation.
Additionally, you are lying by claiming you offered a third alternative — you did not. As a result, I had no choice but to leave the. Your establishment is clearly not family-friendly or accommodating to mothers with babies. Moreover, you were not constructive or solution-oriented at any point. Even as we were leaving, you watched us with a dismissive attitude.
In your response, you stated that you did everything you could, but that is absolutely not true. You did nothing to genuinely help us.
What was supposed to be a special Mother’s Day breakfast turned into a disappointment because of your side. I would never...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at this hidden gem for a Turkish breakfast, and it was nothing short of delightful! The combination of fantastic food quality and a charming interior made the experience truly memorable.
The food was a true highlight. We tried the Mıhlama, Menemen, and Pides, and each dish was bursting with flavor. The presentation was not only appetizing but also showcased the care put into every plate. If you haven't tried these dishes before, this is the place to start!
The honey, butter, and jams were the perfect accompaniments to our meal. They added that extra touch of authenticity to the experience, and you could tell they were of high quality.
Service was impressively fast, and the owner and staff were incredibly welcoming. Their warmth made us feel right at home.
What's even better is the affordability of this breakfast spot. It's a fantastic value for the quality you receive. I would recommend making a reservation for weekends and bank holidays because it's understandably becoming quite popular.
In summary, if you're looking for a top-notch Turkish breakfast experience with delicious food, friendly service, and reasonable prices, this place is a must-visit. You won't be disappointed!
