My husband doesn't like my cooking, (but my friends do) however he deserved a reward for doing several hours of household chores. He wanted an Italian meal, he often asks for an Italian meal but only ever orders chicken Milanese. I wanted somewhere buzzy, exciting and delicious so we set off via Crouch End to Stroud Green Road N4 3PX, an area that we often explore. One of the Italian restaurants is called Pizzeria Pappagone. It looked full inside at 3pm on a Saturday afternoon, and the overflow tables outside were all full as well. Clearly a very popular and successful venue. We went in and asked for a table, explaining that we hadn't booked. Apparently you can only book by phone or by going in and asking. The lovely man allowed us in but we had to leave by a certain time. It smelled good, and there was great music in the background. We ordered 2 virgin coladas and they were very creamy and heavenly. My husband happily ordered the Vitello Milanese. When it arrived it was huge and on the bone, the spaghetti was full of lovely sweet cherry tomatoes, the crunchy covering was perfect and not puffy. Every mouthful was a delight. I know because I kept raiding his plate. Although I really wanted pasta, hubby persuaded me to order the lamb chops. They were cooked to perfection, I gave him some scraps, and, as it came with big happy chips, I gave him half of those, as well as a reluctantly allowing him to taste my wonderful spicy tomato chutney which was possibly the best that I have ever tasted. The clientele were varied, but there were several young groups and many Italians which is always encouraging. Unfortunately we were greedy and wanted desserts; they reached the same high standard. He had a very rich Tiramisu, while I stuffed myself on a ginormous bowl of ice creams and after eights. I struggled to drive home and slept for 2 hours. We will return soon, and I really want to share Pizza and pasta with hubby next time. It all looked so good.

This place was packed, a show of how popular it is. However my experience based on the food was not great. I tend to frequent authentic Italian pizzerias in London, yet this one wasn't on par to many. I found out this place has been around since the late 90's, and it seems it has lost its way comparing to many new authentic Pizzerias that have opened in London over recent years. The first thing I taste on a pizza is the crust, if the dough is good the pizza will be so. Yet I found the crust to not be enjoyable and lacked some flavour with poor texture. I was sat in a position seeing the pizzaiolos at work, and the focus was speed rather than care with their pizzas getting no love. I watched one pizza get made and saw a load on ingredients get thrown on. A place that has too many items on the menu, isn't going to do 1 well for sure. The only good thing I take away was the service, and wine selection. If you want a great Italian pizza in London head elsewhere, as within 10min there are a couple of great pizzerias in this area!

I’m sorry for scoring this low, but I need to. Last night, everything was fine until I found something weird in one of the mussels in my gnocchi. It was a blackish paste inside. I tried some of it and it was sand. Yes SAND. We called the waiter and he brought the manage. Terrible person TBH. the manager put all the responsibility in me as I had “forced” the shell to open it. The manager insisted that the shell was closed and I had forced it. He also stated that it’s well known that any closed shell in a dish should never be open. To what I answered, a closed shell should never be put in a dish by your chefs! Then he apologised and send a couple of Linoncello-nice gesture. However, they didn’t take the dish off of the bill- YES people! They charged the dish! Invited not to go again at all! Unless they change that manager, of course. Instead of making us happy, they just got us more angry and disappointed about the experience. Pity, as the restaurant seems to have been there forever and to have a very good reputation.

We had dined in here the week before and there were a few problems like the staff members English wasn’t great and the orders were incorrect. I ordered 2 pizza’s, 1 for each of my children and they only brought 1. After a little while and me realising they must have only ordered 1, I called someone over and asked where the second was. 1st they tried to tell me I only ordered 1, then finally ordered a second for my son. Due to it being late, I think it wasn’t left in the oven quite long enough as it was watery and falling apart and I had to send it back. All of this and the noise level doubled in the time we were there. As I liked the food that I had ordered, I decided to give another try and order a delivery today! I shouldn’t have bothered… this is what arrived today. I mean for £13.50 I would expect more than a cup of food. It was defo double when I had it in the restaurant. I have taken a photo with my spoon in so you can see just how small it is, and to come in a cardboard box??? Lesson learnt!

Food and service is normally really good but, toilets are from a bus station, also there is lots of areas around that has a clear lack of cleaning like the ice cream area. —- "Thank you for your response and for explaining your cleaning procedures. I understand the challenges of maintaining restrooms, but based on my experience and feedback from others, it seems the restrooms might benefit from a renovation, as they appear outdated and in disrepair. Additionally, I have attached photos of the ice cream area that demonstrate the lack of cleaning. If the front-of-house areas have such issues, it raises concerns about the cleanliness of areas not visible to customers. I hope this feedback is helpful, and I look forward to seeing improvements on my next visit."

Authentic italian food with a decent pricing. Most meals are around £9.50-12.00. I love their lasagna and especially their calzone. And their desser menu is also lovely, their gelato, tiramisu and the banofee pies are great. Seating is okay, somewhat cramped but thats when it gets busy. Atmosphere is also nice. This place also has a lot of Italian people visiting so you can tell its authentic. I do have to note my friends and I are Asian and when we visited, both the groups of Italian families that my table was in-between were staring at us constantly and made us very uncomfortable. Other than that its a great place to eat. I recommend visiting in the afternoon for lunch instead of dinner as it gets rather busy.
