I don't know where to start about why i love the place so much. It is a feel good place like no other. The decorum that makes you feel you step into someone's house, someone who welcomes you. A bit like your grand dad palace, everything is in place but it is also a miracle they are. The owner is both discreet and welcoming. He will make you feel at home and will remember your name (without over bearing you with long chat). He has some poetic sense and he is very kind. Oh and he is also a very generous man. The food, well that's just the best sandwich in London by far and fresh fruits and vegetables and meat. You won't get hungry ! There is also some delicious cookies that goes with the coffee. It feels good to be there. And you may end up bumping into a client and starting a conversation because it feels that way there. A gem in London.

Protect this man at all costs! He is the kindest, most welcoming cafe owner, who from the moment we walked in, made us feel like we were simply old friends catching up. Walking in, you feel like you're taking a step back in time to simpler days. While every cafe these days feels like it's trying to be a minimalist, scandinavian box, here you're transported to an inviting haven more akin to an extension of ones home in a quaint European village. The coffee is genuinely good, the food is so fresh and the assortment of vegetables you get with the salads and vegetarian eggs is astonishing! Before leaving, we told him we were going bouldering and he even insisted we take some of his fresh ciabata and clementines for refueling. I repeat... protect this man at all costs. So looking forward to coming back!

Absolutely delightful experience at Fig Tree Café! After our Saturday run, my friend and I decided to grab breakfast, and we were pleasantly surprised. The avocado toast with salad was not only delicious but also fresh and beautifully presented. The cozy atmosphere added to the charm of the place, making it the perfect spot for a post-workout meal. Moreover, the owner's warmth and friendliness truly made us feel welcome. The unexpected gesture of gifting a fig and a clementine upon departure was a lovely touch that left a lasting impression. Highly recommend this spot for anyone looking for great food and exceptional hospitality!

What an atrocious a-hole this owner was... he became angry and oddly aggressive with me after I asked for some salt and a slice of lemon for sandwich I paid £8.50 for.

He squeezed the lemon haphazardly all over my plate and complained that "lemons are expensive, so I cannot give you a slice"... again, I paid £8.50 for this sandwich.

He then asked me to move seats because "people are eating over there"... I said I'd rather not move because I was also one of those people eating there, and was halfway through my meal.

He then accused me of getting defensive and "problematic", and that because I'd only ordered a takeaway meal I "wasn't allowed to sit with the other customers"

The problem is that I never even asked for a takeaway. I had asked to eat in. The owner even said at the start I could eat in the cafe but then got all weird when I asked for some salt.

I offered to pay extra to sit in, but then he told me I had to leave if I didn't move seats. Absolute a-hole... though credit to him as he did refund me. But then as I left he came out with a cracking line:

"YOU DON'T DESERVE MY SANDWICHES! GO AND EAT AT McDONALDS!"

Like, damn, son, you sound super entitled. All I wanted was a little seasoning... and yes, you're right, no one deserves your utterly bland and tasteless £8.50 sandwiches... even McDonald's would taste better.

Sorry if you were having a bad day but this is no way to treat people - you should know that after your "55 years" in...

The Fig Tree Cafe is a total gem. I just finished a 9 month training in the Highbury/Islington area and during my first session, I popped into this cafe for a delicious lunch, and the rest is history. I couldn't believe how delicious the food was - the roasted veg, the incredibly fresh olive ciabatta, the pop of pomegranate and apple in the salad. The cafe itself was also beautiful, and eating on the back porch or in the sun room feels like you've stepped into another world. As I left, the owner Mustafa gave me a fresh fig that I enjoyed on my way back to my training, and I couldn't wait to come back. The next time I was in town for a training, I brought a colleague, and then more were interested when we wouldn't stop raving about our meal, until eventually we organized order-ahead eat-in lunches for our entire training group including faculty (15 people). Mustafa was fantastic through it all. You can tell he cares deeply about the quality of his food and the authenticity of the experience. If you're nice, he might just give you a glass of sunshine lemonade, or a fresh baked almond cookie.

Now that my training is complete and I won't be back to London, I'll be dreaming about lunch at the Fig Tree Cafe for a long time... especially the tomato...

I ordered an oat latte to have in, it wasn't the best quality but I was willing to overlook this as the place was quite cute and quirky, albeit a bit run down and didn't really look much like the photos left in other reviews.

However, when I got up to pay the owner seemed quite grumpy (more so than when I had ordered an hour ago), he entered my fee on the card machine and I could see it read £1.50 but then he corrected his mistake and entered a new figure (which I could not see when I payed) - I didn't think anything of it until I left and I was already on the train home - checked my bank account and he had charged me £10.50 FOR AN OAT LATTE. I felt totally ripped off and if I hadn't already had left I would've asked for a refund - maybe I should've checked before I payed but it felt like he overcharged me on purpose.

I am sad to leave this review as I really wanted to like this place and had heard wonderful things from other reviews, but unfortunately I feel like I need to share my terrible experience as I don't want others to be ripped off in...
