We went out for a meal. Four of us and decided on Brixton Market which has a great vibe and atmosphere. Lots of like minded people winding down and enjoying good food and relaxation. Lots of restaurants to choose from and even an Italian Ice cream shop two doors away from Fish, wings and tings. Great title. Today was really sunny but in the evening cold so if you do visit take a coat to keep warm as most of the chairs are outside. We managed to find a parking space easily in Valentia place a couple of minutes walk from the market. Take cash as they do not take cards. There is a cash machine in the market but it charges. I took a short walk to the high street and with drew from a cash machine outside Sainsburys. There was no tables inside when we went on Friday night but we sat outside with coats on.
We had a selection of starters. Cod fish in batter, chicken wings and ribs. The sauces had a little bite of heat, Nice touch of apricot on the side to cool a little. All went down well. For mains three of us had Curry goat and one Goat Roti, all had a full plate and not much room for pudding. Nice combination of flavours. Great value for cost and the amount served up. Meat tender and full of flavour.
The staff were smiling and helpful. Topping up glasses of water and when asked quick to help. I would go again. Only take your coat if it is a cold night. Parking seems easy in some streets than others. Remember to take cash or walk a few minutes to the high street to get some cash. Very busy on the weekend. We had to que a little while. Worth the wait. They also advertise for take away if you want to try. If you have not tried Caribbean, be prepared for a little hot spices. Great taste as not hot enough to burn but a nice little...
Read moreBox park Croydon branch - Worst management and customer service received. The food is extremely bland and far from authentic. Me and my partner came here and the start was good until we received our meal. I politely said we do not like the food and said we will order drinks and continue enjoying ourselves whilst we’re here. The staff member then confirmed our meals are void off the bill. When it came to paying she asked if we were paying by cash or card. My partner said card and when he looked the bill was £50.00 they tried to pull a fast one but didn’t succeed. They didn’t remove our meals off the bill. Another lady with a headscarf then said the manager said we HAVE to pay for meals we did not eat and only tasted. It’s apparently their policy. I have never known a restaurant to charge customers for rubbish food that they didn’t even eat. We then insisted that we will not pay for anything not even the drinks because of the extremely bad service. I really was looking forward to trying this place but I will never go back and have advised all family and friends to stay away from here. The manager Brian needs to train his staff on how to treat customers and deliver exceptional customer service. A customer then came in the store who asked if the shop is open and the staff member confirmed it is but then once he got to the counter the lady then said it’s closed. He was gobsmacked and just left. This restaurant needs new management, a new chef the food is disgusting and new staff members who do not mislead their customers and slyly charge them for food they confirmed will be void off the...
Read moreSo I will start this review off on a positive note the waitress was absolutely wonderful can't fought her a tour she was a young French lady with a very French accent and despite this she still made every effort to pronounce all words on the menu and was really polite and friendly. The food here was not at all terrible but the portions do not reflect the price. Fish wings and Tings have recently taken over what used to be eats of Eden an all vegetarian restaurant which I felt was great value for money and the food was amazing this is where I was heading to back to my disappointment they were no longer there and fish wings were now the owners adding an additional restaurant called veg and tings. I was very hungry at this point so decided I'd give it a try I was immediately shocked at the prices on the menu all means are between 14.50 and 16.50 if I'm not mistaken, but didn't let the price put me off as I'm aware that things have gone up and some places have these kind of prices as standard. I decided to order from both restaurants and was ok with the food it wasn't terrible, wasn't great either, but I enjoyed it. I ordered a veg roti which I believe cost £14.50 when I received my dish I could not believe my eyes considering what I just paid I expected a better portion after eating my food I was still hungry so I went to order a bowl of plain rice just to fill the gap but again was outraged at the price £6 for some rice so this would have bought my meal to £20.50. I decided against it and went about my day. In my honest opinion this is not fine dining and the prices do not...
