Food is really delicious overall. I got the Eden platter which lets you choose seven items. I got: Chickpea curry Seaweed fritter Stew peas Callaloo Macaroni pie Wheat meat Pumpkin and sweet potato curry

I also got a side of dumplings and a callaloo patty.

I absolutely love love love the callaloo patty, dumplings, seaweed fritters and macaroni pie. The patty was so flaky. The dumplings were great for mopping up the sauce from the curries. I had read some review that said that their dumplings were hard and when I got mine I thought it would be hard but it definitely wasn’t at all. It was wonderfully soft on the inside and crunchy on the outside. Same with the seaweed fritter - delightfully crunchy and fried with quite a bit of peppers and seaweed in it. (Would’ve liked to get two fritters instead of just one though in the platter since it seemed a bit skimpy to just get one.) The macaroni pie was super “cheesy” and creamy. Wish it was a bigger serving too!

The stew peas and chickpea curry are also quite good - good flavor and not spicy - although wish the stew peas had some more dumplings in it since it was mostly beans. If you like bbq sauce, definitely recommend the wheat meat. (I thought it was a little too much bbq sauce on them but the texture of the wheat meat was very good.) Didn’t care for the sweet potato and pumpkin curry as much because it was a little too sweet for me. I think some more spice would make the sweet potato and pumpkin curry better. The callaloo was a little salty to me so I preferred it in the patty than on its own. I was given a really large portion of the callaloo compared to the other things I chose for my platter and would’ve liked a more equal ratio since it was a little overwhelming to have so much callaloo.

The service was pretty good. The two people there were so nice and friendly. They did forget to give me my seaweed fritter but when I asked about it they apologized and brought it out to me. They also were very nice when I asked for some tap water and asked for refills - didn’t make me feel uncomfortable at all to ask about it. It’s a shame that Britton doesn’t have indoor seating right now since it would’ve made the experience nicer compared to sitting outside since it was a bit cold when I went. Also, I wish the food didn’t come in takeout boxes since a nicer presentation would be preferable considering the price. Several of the items were placed in one box so they got mixed in together. I would’ve liked to be able to try each one individually to compare.

Overall though I definitely really liked the food here. They are quite generous with their portions so definitely come super hungry if you want to...

I placed an order twice in the past week, this was my first experience at this restaurant and unfortunately not a good one. I checked the order before leaving as it was a distance from home to try the restaurant which I had heard good reviews about. There where a few items missing from the bag (fritters, pineapple crumble) which I informed the lady who served me. She checked and confirmed that indeed items were missing and called someone to find out who completed the order, at the time of placing the order I was supposed to have been informed by staff if anything was not available according to the lady that served me. The pineapple crumble was substituted with a victoria sponge which seemed to be the only choice. The lady that served me was rude/abrupt when I asked about the price difference but as this was my first visit I let it go as maybe she had an off day.

Myself and my sister placed another order yesterday (11th Oct) with the same issue, this time items missing from my sisters, the same lady that served a few days before was very rudea and said the items were not available but with a nasty attitude, we checked what looked like the date of the victorian sponge at the bottom of the jar and it had 260920 which we pointed out however the lady said demanded it was a batch number not a date stating 'they came in fresh this morning', we checked again in the morning for piece of mind only to find another label that confirmed our suspicion, that the date was indeed on the bottom of the jar (see attached) which was already consumed. For me the experience is about the whole experience, service and food and the rudeness of this lady has put me off returning. The service and out of date pudding has put me off returning or recommending this restaurant and I think some serious staff training in customer service needs to...

My friend and I had spent a couple of weeks planning a food date and decided Eat of Eden was the place for us as it is local, independent and vegan. We arrived at 4.15pm, promptly ordered and sat down to wait for our food. Naturally we were enjoying ourselves and didn’t quite notice the time passing, until we realised it was 5pm and we hadn’t been served our drinks (Eden Berry smoothies) let alone our food. I popped inside to enquire whether we would be served shortly and after being ignored for 10mins my neglected ticket stub was passed to the cooks and I was told “it will be with you soon”. No less than 20 minutes later we received our smoothies, which although great didn’t quite get rid of the sour taste left by the “service” and the additional “it will be here soon” response minus any apology when we asked, again, about the food. At 6pm when all those customers arriving after us had not just been served but had also eaten and left, we were finally the last people in the place. We were served our food with not so much as an apology or any acknowledgement of the near hours we spent waiting without drinks or any communication. Both my friend and I work in hospitality and while we understand that sometimes things go wrong and you fall behind in service, there should never be a point where you blatantly disregard the time and money spent by your patrons. No level of food quality can rectify the rude, obnoxious and otherwise ignorant quality of service exhibited by Eat of Eden. I strongly advise that you avoid them because in hindsight if I had known how rude they were I would have...

I went for dinner to Eat of Eden (Brixton). As they describe it, their menu is inspired by Caribbean Ital and European recipes. They're famous for their platters, which can be ordered to share, but they also serve curries, vegan burgers, desserts and more. Very pleasant to find out that their menu is fully vegan. More choices! Their branch in Brixton is quite small, with a seating area outside but covered and with a halogen heater. It's more like a grab to go food, but if it's quiet you may find a seat, since people eat and go quite quickly. I had the mini platter, which has 5 items to choose and it's enough food for one. The items I chose were macaroni pie (my absolute favourite!), mushrooms, fritter, chickpea curry and black rice. They also gave me a dumpling for free, which was nice and greasy. What I love about this place is how fresh the food feels, like if your grandma had made it, but with the Caribbean twist of unusual ingredients (ackee, black rice or plantain) and flavours. The prices are also very reasonable, so that's a plus. I'd love it if they had more space or more seating indoors to have a nice meal instead of eat and go. I suppose I need to check their other branches but this is the closest to me! Eat of Eden, a Caribbean vegan flare that will surprise you with unique flavours and a very homemade feel. I would definitely go back!
