Hmm, a mixed bag. Really lovely, child friendly, staff and inpecable waitress service (which is unusal in a little cafe). Also has really nice decor and a sweet little outdoor seating area. I ordered a ham and cheese crossaint and a pot of Earl Grey and my young companion a gingerbread man. Sadly the crossaint was not great, extremply greasy and had been put in a pannini press rather than warmed through. The cheese was pretty bland and very low on ham. The weirdest thing though was that it came with crisps and a salad that was drenched in a really horrible, thick dressing. Why would i want crisps and gloopy salad at 10 oclock in the morning? I dumped these on another plate. The gingerbreadman was well recived though I had a good cup of tea. On balance I would say definatley drop in for tea and cake - the cakes and tray bakes all looked delicious and reasonaly priced. Not sure about meals or crossaints though, hopefully they will improve...
Read moreThe cafe is clean, and the food was ok but this restaurant is NOT allergy friendly. I stated that I have an allergy to dairy multiple times- so I swapped several items off my meal. However; I forgot to take the toast off, this was then not spotted by the manager or the chef. I explained the oversight when I ate some of the food and the response was almost, you should of seen it. Not reassuring at all. Then after she walked off, she came back and said I’ve taken off your drink (1 coke) as an apology. Which I found insulting. 10% off my food or my meal taken off the final bill would have been...
Read moreI don’t know if they took the french element of service to heart, but we found the staff a bit surly and disinterested on a morning visit yesterday (Saturday). They forgot half our order including all our drinks and weren’t particularly gracious in sorting it out. The food on the whole is quite good though although they really need to season their eggs just even a little bit. On the whole probably won’t be returning unless service ups it’s game as it put a big...
