GAIL's Bakery Northcote Road — Restaurant in London

Met my niece along with daughter-inlaw for brunch. Ordered scrambled eggs with sour dough toast on the side. Eggs came no toast asked spanish waitress who then said we never ordered toast. She was absolutely rude and not very accomodating. She went and asked guy who served us. Returned and said we will get toast. After 30 mins waiting we had to return to counter and ask where our toast was. The staff were too busy arguing with one another whilst other customers were standing waiting to be served really disgraceful as we the customer dont come in for this type of entertainment. Other customers were also gob smacked about what was transforming right before there eyes. Finally got toast but yes eggs were stone cold by this time. I work in hospitality and have never before witnessed such deplorable service and questioning. Get your act together guys as other customers were openly saying they too were disatisfied. Sack the rude staff as plenty of good workers could do with the bad staffs jobs. My niece was so embarrassed as she suggested going to this Cafe....

Went last week with a friend who hasn't been before ... Nobody said hello so we waited and waited while the staff chatted and spoke Spanish to eachother Ordered two coffee' s and chocolate Brownie and two mince pies. I told my friend ( loves out of London) what a good cafe this is.. well I felt so let down . Coffee arrived and I said the Decaf is for me please, she gave me a glazed expression and said oh it's this one . But i am sure it wasn't de- cafe ( she went back and said to the other girl you made two regular coffee's but don't worry I told him one was Ha ha and proceeded to giggle away ... Coffee was luke warm, at least the Brownie was good . It's the last time I am going in there as they now have one in Balham and the service is quite good . Dear Manager why employ stropy staff I have been going here for at least 3/4 years and the service is hit and miss! Dreadful dreadful dreadful staff. I live nearby and every time I go in here I regret it immediately. The food is OK (although at the expensive end of the spectrum), but the staff are quite appalling and no matter how many seem to come and go over the years it never changes. Slow to serve, surly, arrogant to the point of being aggressive, and really just don't care. So many times you can go in, and despite there being around 6 - 8 staff, only one of them bothers to serve anyone whilst the rest of them busy themselves doing nothing. I don't know how other Gails are run, but this one needs a complete change of staff as when a new person starts they seem to inherit the same appalling customer service.
