I regularly visit this bakery in Queens Park two to three times a week. Over the past few weeks, I’ve really noticed a positive change – especially when it comes to the staff's friendliness and overall atmosphere.
There’s one team member in particular who stands out: George. I asked for his name because his kindness and professionalism truly deserve recognition. Every time we’ve been served by him, he’s been warm, polite, and genuinely helpful.
Just recently, my wife and I were there on a Sunday. George welcomed us with a smile, gave thoughtful recommendations, and after we had already picked up quite a few items, he kindly offered us one more to try – simply as a gesture of goodwill. He said something like, “Try this out – and if you like it, you’ll know for next time.” It wasn’t forced or pushy at all, just a sincere and generous moment that made our day.
In the past, the service at this location sometimes felt a bit indifferent, which was surprising for a premium bakery. But now, with people like George and other new faces on the team, the atmosphere has improved noticeably.
Huge credit to George – he brings genuine warmth to the place. I truly hope management recognises what a valuable team member they have. He’s definitely one of the reasons we keep...
Read moreI quite like GAIL's in general, but this one had a lot of problems. The person who was taking orders at the till on Tuesday 20 June, a big guy, tall, buzz cut, Caucasian-looking, was so aloof and rude it was actually confusing to know how to interact with him. He literally threw one of my food orders onto the plate and was just barking at the next customer to come up before I'd even picked up my order - very odd behaviour. I've worked in hospitality before, so I know how much of a nightmare it can be, but I wasn't doing anything rude as a customer at all. The other two staff were nice, especially the man who made my coffee, a young, East Asian guy. The iced latte and the mini bun and the chocolate muffin were all fine. The music being played in the main seating area was awkwardly, comically loud, and even more awkwardly they were playing the original, explicit versions of songs and that seems a bit weird to me in a daytime cafe with kids. I mean, Google "Brent Faiyaz - DEAD MAN WALKING" and "The 1975 - Love It If We Made It" if you don't believe me 😅. There was a fourth member of staff who was bussing tables and whistling along as if it were just a kickback in someone's living room... Anyway, like I said, I do like GAIL's, but this was just a really...
Read morePretty shoddy experience this evening for me and my partner. I ordered a hot chocolate, one pot of tea and a small vegan cake. When charged £13.50 or so, I was a little puzzled but didn't question it. Order arrives at the table and there is a second pot of tea. I say its not for us and the server pretends like its actually for someone else but I see her take it straight back to the bar. The dude who served me at the till comes over and apologies and says he'll get my refund to me. He never came back. When we left, I went to the till and speak with the same server I paid to initally and he has forgotton all about it seemingly and asks what I want to order. I asked for my refund to which he suddenly remembers. Only when I leave I realise he refunded me for a take away tea and not a sit in tea. I'm sure the difference is like 90p or something. Not much but it's the principal that the whole thing was messed up start to finish.
I work in a cafe too and it's not hard work. The place was almost empty but the server was too busy talking or looking around the room when I ordered. Never paid attention. Dude was tall, super short fair hair with tatoos on his arms. Not going to bother with this...
