Plus points: -still open at 5.30pm on a Sunday afternoon when most independent cafés, that I prefer to support, have closed and you could park on the High St. cheese scone was very good though no butter was offered, had to ask for it. spacious but a bit vacuous when quiet
Not so good points: lighting a bit harsh and not quite directed correctly so it shone in your eyes on one banquette wooden seating quite hard Rose, Lemon and Pistachio cake - you could taste 2 out of 3 ingredients, rosewater was indistinguishable but it had a good texture never got asked what tea we would like. Got served Assam I believe. Tea was weak to start with then became tannic so had to remove the tea strainer with the leaves from the pot got told bang on 6pm 'we're closed now' rather than being warned 5/10 minutes before that they would be closing soon which is a bit more customer friendly perhaps. there was not much friendly customer service behind the counter and the tea tray was almost banged down on the table BUT it was nearly all redeemed by a very nice goodbye ( with a smile) and we were wished a good evening.

Read moreExtremely poor service and customer service! I bought a coffee and had my two little dogs with me and was approached after I had bought my coffee by a short Indian guy posing as a manager and abruptly and rudely asked me to take my dogs out side and use a table there! Gail’s is ment to be dog friendly. I said had I known I would not of bought my coffee to sit in and give my dogs a little rest as it was hot out side. I then said keep the coffee I’m leaving and the guy said you can have it on the house and no just pour it away. I was so humiliated and my poor dogs needed a little rest with water !! Seriously staff need major people skill training and be aware dogs ARE allowed in !! We did complain to The manager but didn’t like the complaint and retaliated towards us. We have lived in teddington for 25 years and never ever had such poor customer service with really awful attitudes superior to a complaint that really needed to be made. You promote dog friendly coffee shop as Gail’s …..Lord Sugar world with the CEO with his business and I’m sure he wont appreciate these flaws in...
Read moreI had a deeply unpleasant experience today as a customer. One of the baristas, named Daren, approached me after I asked for a takeaway cup to give my dogs some water on a hot day. He told me the dogs should drink from the bowl outside, which I hadn’t noticed. I acknowledged this politely and said I’d use it next time.
However, the situation quickly escalated when he began to tap me on the shoulder while speaking. I immediately asked him not to touch me, yet he did it again—this time tapping my other shoulder while saying, “Sorry, I didn’t mean to touch you.” I reiterated that this was unacceptable and asked him to step away. Instead, he continued standing in front of me and engaging further, ignoring my repeated requests to leave me alone.
This behavior was not only unprofessional but also disrespectful and invasive. I left feeling uncomfortable and disrespected. I expect better conduct from staff in a public-facing role, especially when customers express...
