And as for the couple that run it are loving members of ther community I no cos I lived just up the road then we moved but still come back cos Lou And wife Ellie work behind the shop hrs before they open preparing all the fish freshly bought. for us to enjoy. When i went to order fish & chip, the owner said make a telephone order so you dont have to wait. It will be ready when you come. On the other day i made a telephone order, and the lady on phone said it will be ready in 15min. When i went there after 15 min, the que is long and they made me to wait half an hour in the que until my turn. Then after they cooked my food. What is the point of making telephone order? Please makesure when you are handling money not to touch the food. When i was waiting i saw they didnt wash hands, and when packing handling the food with hand. The owner is very good. Golden Anchor is nowadays a rare find London. You will struggle to find a more charming family run chippy. Lou & Ellie are lovely, and so is their place. With a contemporary menu that includes my gluten free Fish&Chips (on Wednesdays only and how i found it via quick google search), there are also 4 cute little tables with flowers for eating in. The fish was very fresh, generous portion and cooked to perfection Absolutely delicious!
The locals seem to know it well. One guy arrived in his new car that he collected today and has been going there for 25 years. It's obvious from their banter that Lou watched him grow...
