Bagel Town - Romford Road — Restaurant in London

I had a terrible case of food poisoning after eating here a few weeks ago, though at the time, I wasn’t sure if it was from this place or something I had earlier that day. However, after my most recent visit, it was clear that Bagel Town was the cause.

Concerns: Hygiene needs serious improvement. The staff do not seem to follow proper food safety practices. One of the employees at the counter was handling cash—the dirtiest thing possible—while wearing disposable gloves, then using the same gloves to prepare food and operate different machines. This is unacceptable. Another staff member wasn’t wearing gloves at all, touching machines and then using his bare hands to pour cheese without tongs or gloves.

Positives: On the bright side, the staff are very friendly, and the food itself is great! It’s a fantastic alternative to typical fast food like fried chicken shops. The pricing is reasonable, portions are generous, and there’s a great variety of options to choose from.

Final Thoughts: If hygiene standards were improved, this place would easily be a 5-star spot. Please, take food safety seriously!

This was hands down the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I asked the employee—tall, with a beard, wearing a Jordan hat and a Fila shirt—not to put cheese on my order. Instead of simply acknowledging the request, he became argumentative and aggressive, making what should have been a simple exchange extremely uncomfortable. At one point, it genuinely felt like he was about to physically lash out.

This type of behavior is completely unacceptable, especially from someone working directly with customers. No one should feel intimidated or disrespected when ordering food. Rude and aggressive staff have no place behind a till, and I hope Bagel Town takes this seriously.

This place has amazing food. The creativity in the food they offer despite their meager appearance is delicious. From the delicious Gourmet Bagel - a soft Bagel with a perfectly smashed, cheese topped beef patty floated atop flavoursome Jalapeños - to their simple chicken tikka panning, every molecule is packed with the spirit of spice.
