4/9:
We went to Granero lounge for lunch on 4/9. The lounge is one of my favourite chain restaurant spots to eat in the UK. I have been many times but I am still finding items I have not tried on the gluten free menu. This place is gluten free food heaven. I always find it hard to pick what options I want here. Today,I went for two tapas dishes and triple cheese fries. The first Tapas Dish was the Bang Bang Fried Cauliflower without the Chilli Ketchup. The Cauliflower was delicious and cooked very well. The second Tapas dish was the Louisiana Fried Chicken with a BBQ dip which was really delicious. The chicken was cooked perfectly and the BBQ dip had a nice Smokey flavour. The Triple Cheese Fries were lovely,the seasoning and cheese were nice. However,there was little cheese on the plate so I did not feel I was getting value for money out of this dish but this would not stop me from ordering the dish again. The staff were friendly,service was quick and the atmosphere and decor is lovely. The water station is a great addition too!
6/9:
We came back to Granero Lounge for breakfast this morning. We always have a lovely breakfast here! This is definitely one of the best breakfast places in the local area. The staff were very friendly as usual and the food came out very quickly. For my breakfast this morning I ordered a variety of options. My first dish was the Bacon Butty,the Bacon was very tasty and slightly salty. The Bacon Butty was very satisfying to eat. For my second dish I went for the Hash Browns,they were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside as usual and delicious. For my third dish I went for the Halloumi which was delicious and were slightly salted too which was nice. Because I was so impressed by the Bang Bang Fried Cauliflower Tapas dish on Thursday,I ordered it again as my fourth dish for my breakfast this morning. The portion of this dish was very generous and i preferred how it was presented this time. I was given a separate pot for the Ssamjang Mayo. I requested the dish without Chilli Ketchup but the Ssamjang Mayo has the Chilli Ketchup inside it. They very kindly gave it to me in a separate pot. The Cauliflower was delicious,it had a light and crispy outside as the texture and the flavour was a really refreshing cauliflower flavour. The cauliflower was also slightly oily too. This dish is very similar to the Eat LEBÖ Crispy Kale. The Ssamjang Mayo was flavourful and had a slightly spicy kick. For my last but not least dish I went for the gluten free toast. The Toast was delicious and acted as a nice palate cleanser. The texture was lovely and soft. Also what would be really cool is if the Lounge opened express restaurants/takeaways in places such as busy train stations and shopping centres and in Airports. I love the Lounge breakfast so much. I would highly...
Read moreDisappointing Experience at What Used to Be a Favourite Spot;
My friend and I discovered this Lounge a few months ago, and it quickly became one of our regular places - we’ve been visiting almost every week since. The staff have always seemed friendly and cheerful, and the general atmosphere was quite decent.
Unfortunately, today we had an experience that completely changed our opinion.
The restaurant has an offer displayed outside: two of the same cocktails for a set price. It was our first time trying it, and I paid in advance. After enjoying the first cocktail, I asked if I could have a different flavour for the second one. The lady at the till confirmed that it was fine, so I assumed it was approved and expected it to be brought out to our table.
However, when the second drink arrived about five minutes later, it was the same flavour as the first. I couldn’t help but frown at the waitress - not out of rudeness, but out of surprise and disappointment. It felt like I’d been misled. Either there is a lack of communication between staff, or the person at the till gave the wrong information. In either case, the service did not feel customer-focused and instead came across as aggressive with arrogant reaction.
To make matters worse, the waitress later complained to the male manager - even though I hadn’t said a word. The manager then came out and asked me if I had sworn at the waitress, which was shocking and completely false. At no point did I use any inappropriate language.
The entire situation left me feeling like I had been treated unfairly and accused of something I didn’t do. I essentially paid £7.50 for what was essentially a simple fruit juice, and two cocktails came to £13.99 - far too expensive for what they are. On top of that, the drinks were served in almost half-filled glasses, which made the experience feel even more disappointing.
While not all staff behaved poorly, the female waitress who served the cocktail and the male staff member who spoke to me as manager both had noticeably arrogant, aggressive and defensive attitudes. Instead of taking accountability and apologising for the confusion or miscommunication, they chose to accuse the customer.
What’s written on the menu is one thing-but if staff at the till give verbal approval for a change, the responsibility lies with them to honour it. Otherwise, it feels deceptive and unprofessional.
Sadly, after today’s experience, we won’t be returning, and we would not recommend this place to others. If you’re thinking of visiting, we’d suggest thinking twice-unless you enjoy being surprised for all the...
Read moreHonestly, this place stands out for its beautiful decor, great hangout for large crowds, unusually healthy menu with its array of vegan, vegetarian and gluten free options. Great place for a coffee, snack, lunch with a lively and pleasant atmosphere surrounded by beautiful decor! Really well decorated 😍 very spacious. The food quality seemed mediocre.
A recurrent issue was that the tables have hard dried on food stuck to it and sometimes seem to be sticky…just like the Red Onion restaurant, a few doors down…I had to walk around, dismissing 3 tables because they had crumbs on them and/or hardened sauce stuck onto them. Luckily there were plenty of available tables to choose from however I had to settle for a table with hardened sauce on it.
This place also has a wide range of cuisines from all day breakfasts to flatbreads and sundaes and cocktails!
I had a few tapas items (hummus, beef quesadilla, edamame guacamole, fritters) that tasted ok. Unfortunately they weren’t memorably tasty.
Ok value for money. Though the all day breakfasts didn’t seem good value for money.
