"THE GREAT GREGG'S GIVEAWAY".
Another Greggs another theft in broad daylight and blatant as ever. Went in to grab a tea and a guy, obviously on harder times and maybe a little worse for drink just casually walks in. He picked up two bottles of Dr. Pepper and a portion of chips, turned round walked out and proceeded to eat his bounty. I have see this happen on numerous occasions, way to many to count and also I watch them on YouTube.
It's a nice way to spend a couple of hours watching to see how many people grab a free meal deal while Greggs workers look on and don't really give a hoot. Then why should they? They don't get paid enough or are treated fairly enough to warrant the protection of a sandwich and bottle of pop. Greggs as a company have not done anything to address this issue so I have stopped buying food from their stores as I am clearly, most visibly and most emphatically paying towards their free food with my price hikes. A coffee/tea and front row seat to the greatest show in town. I love it.
"THE GREAT GREGG'S GIVEAWAY
It's now 12:15, about an hour later, the same place, drinking my tea. A different guy comes in, looks around, grabs a couple of drinks and a sandwich and walks out. Who needs EastEnders? This is the live show, the staff are so nonplussed about it. I might have to reserve a table as this is too good to miss.
Update: 18/02/24
Sitting here again, drinking water, what a good boy I am. Then the homeless rush, 6-7 people who walk the streets all came in and helped themselves to sandwiches and drinks. (Approx 10:50). It's lucky the man behind the counter said "excuse me" as that really did help the situation as they carried on doing what they were doing. Then they casually walked out. This is why prices are going up and we have to pay for all that theft with our honesty.
15 minutes later another guy casually walks in picks his sandwich and drinks and walks out. Lady shouts "you are taking the Mick now".
Update 22/03/24
A member of staff brings out some more boxes of chicken things for the hot range. Two minutes later a man walks in picks up 3 and walks out. Brilliant.

Only in here for 15 mins to drink a cuppa. 2 more robberies, one guy takes two packets of the twisty doughnut things and another guy a couple of drinks. Roll up, roll up to the buffet of life. Oops wrote too soon. Another guy took 4 boxes from the hot range and then another took two sandwiches. Fantastic.
It's still the giveaway...
Read moreDear Greggs Management (IG11),
I wanted to take a moment to share some honest feedback about my visits to one of your locations. First off, I have to say nothing will ever match the perfection of Percy Ingle’s doughnuts, those were out of this world! They had this delicious, almost nostalgic texture, as if they’d been rolled in sawdust and served up with so much love (though I’m sure that wasn’t the case, but it didn’t matter, they were the best). I do eat Greggs versions, but unfortunately, they just don’t compare. I also have to admit, as much as I’ve tried to like the veggie pasty, but again seems to be full of mush inside. It’s a shame because there’s really not much else out there in the same vein, so needs must. Sorry.
However, the main reason I’m writing is to praise the staff, especially the manager, a lady whose name I unfortunately don’t know, but I believe she truly deserves recognition. I was deeply impressed by her strength, professionalism, and how she conducted herself during a particularly difficult situation. She had to face down a man who was trying to steal food items off the shelf, and it was heartbreaking to watch her handle such a horrible situation with such grace under pressure.
I do have some concerns about the way Greggs displays food items on the shelves. While it’s nice for customers to be able to pick up something on the spot, it also seems like an open invitation for theft and I can only imagine how much extra pressure that puts on your staff, who are left to deal with this on a daily basis. I imagine the costs of theft end up being passed on to customers, which is unfortunate for everyone.
As someone who works in the NHS and sometimes deals with challenging situations at the front line, I understand stress and pressure. But to see staff at a food outlet, like Greggs, dealing with these kinds of issues on top of their regular duties is concerning. One staff member even mentioned that if customers (who choose to steal) just ask, they might give the food anyway. While I’m sure this is done out of kindness.
Lastly, one small request, could we as customers be served before the endless number of bike orders? It can be frustrating waiting while delivery orders are prioritised. Overall, I just wanted to make sure that the staff, especially those working in such challenging circumstances, are recognised and supported more. They...
Read moreHad an extremely bad encounter here yesterday involving both staff and customers forming an offence against me and my two other friends. To start my friend had asked for a sweet chilli sauce and was given a rude toned response and was told there was none but someone else had asked and was given two. The more offensive parts come after this where me and my friends were sat down having our Greggs in peace and a mother and daughter were sat as well as another lady speaking extremely loudly and obnoxiously Had an extremely bad encounter here yesterday involving both staff and customers forming an offence against me and my two other friends. My friend had dropped sauce on her say “ It’s so loud in here for * sake”. Bear in mind it was just me and my friends and them in the shop. Also the lady, mother and daughter and person at the till were all talking and laughing aloud so there was no reason for them to say that. Making matters worse when we were about to leave the lady at the till goes “ YES” so loudly for us to hear and the other two ladies laughed it off. This doesn’t sit right with me at all and I can’t believe that a worker like that could even be hired in the first place as we knew this was all directed to us which is all unnecessary. On top of this you do nothing to keep the shop secure and customers have to view the shop being stolen from which i feel...
